Cover Theme Game for 7/25
Every week you’ll get a brand-new comic cover theme game! The game works like this: I’ll show you three covers. They all have something in common, whether it be a character, a trait all three characters share, a connection between all three characters, a locale, a creator, SOMEthing. And it isn’t something obvious like “They all have prices!” “They all have logos!” “They all feature a man!” “They are all Avengers (who ISN’T?)!” “They’re all dead (who HASN’T been killed off?)!” “They’ve all been cloned (who HASN’T been cloned?)!” etc.
In addition, please note that you must have some familiarity with comic book history to correctly guess these comics. You cannot guess the connective theme just by looking at the covers solely, you must have some knowledge beyond just the covers. The connections will ONLY have to do with connections in the actual comic books (so no incidental connections like “they share the same last names of Vice Presidents,” etc. Now, if the three characters were each named Gerald Ford, that’d be another story, as that’d no longer be incidental).
If you come up with an answer that works outside of what I intended, I’ll give you credit (well, provided I think it fits, of course).
One more thing – if there are floating heads on the cover, ignore them! They don’t mean anything! Same thing with corner boxes!
If you think you know the answer, e-mail me at bcronin@comicbookresources.com. Don’t answer in the comments. This way, people who check in at different times of the day can still get credit for answering it correctly!
Here is an archive of all the past cover theme games, plus their answers. Before each new installment, I’ll post the answers to the previous week’s game.
Good luck and enjoy!

After last week’s challenge was so darn tricky, I figured I’d go easy on y’all this week. This one is very straightforward (well, as straightforward as these types of things go, that is…it doesn’t mean it is OBVIOUS or anything like that).

Hey! All I can say is one man’s freedom fighter is another man’s terrorist. Ask Mojo if Longshot is a terrorist or not!
Thanks for accepting my answer though!

Dear lord, the anatomy on that Marvel Comics Presents cover is horrible.

My guess is “don’t answer in the comments,” like it says up top.

Silly buttler, wanting people to actually read and follow the rules. LOL. Such a goof.

Wow all REALLY unappealing covers this week. Hope that’s not the theme.
Of course now that I’ve said that Brian will probably switch out some great classic cover.

I think it’s nice that one of Torpedo’s arms is a shower head. But man, Speedball’s shoulder looks like there’s something even weirder going on with Torpedo’s anatomy than how she’s drawn in the first place.

Yet another week where I have come up with plenty of themes that fit two of the covers, but nothing that fits all three.

This is one where the answer I’m thinking is so obvious, it doesn’t seem like it could be right, y’know? Like, it can’t possibly be that easy!
But I’m'a emailing it anyway!

Why is 24 years a milestone to celebrate? Couldn’t wait a year for 25?

‘Tis a joke. All the Spider-Man books had a 50th anniversary logo, so for Venom, they said 24.

See. This is what happens when I haven’t bought a current comic in three years.
