Wally West and Donna Troy Against the New 52!

We added two pieces to this week’s Line it is Drawn that were too late for the initial posting.

One was Brendan Tobin’s Guardians of the Galaxy/Giant-Size X-Men #1 homage…

and the other was John Trumbull‘s homage to X-Men #141, as Donna Troy and Wally West stand against the New 52 Status Quo…

Great stuff, guys!

All of you readers out there, get to Twitter and tweet us suggestions for next week’s Stephen King mash-up theme!

Round of applause for John Trumbull!

I wish I had 10,000 thumbs to give that Wally/Donna piece so I could give that many more thumbs up

Man do I miss Wally West. Guess that’s the whole point of back issue bins. Better than the New 52!

Why have I never thought to use “Liefeld” as a verb? Now that I see it, it seems so obvious!!!!! Well done, John. You know I’m going to steal that! (And maybe I’ll attribute it correctly …)

Brendan did a great job.. but .. John … ho john ..what can i say … i praise thee.. more than thumbs up …..

I have never commented on an LID post but I love both of the pieces so much I had to. Mr. Trumbull gets a special thumbs up because his homage made me laugh with the crossed out captions he gave the heroes. Great job to the both of you!

It’s really obscured and thus totally worth it to read that Catwoman is now NAKEDER.

The second one made me laugh.

Similar to poneley, if I have commented on TLIID, it’s been, maybe three times. Not that they aren’t consistently enthralling. But, yes, Trumbull trumps.

So, John, now that I’ve said something nice, please tell me who is in the bottom row beside Starfire, and what their label reads. I am guessing that this is deducible, but I’m no darknight detective. Hellz, I’m no Ralph Dibny.

The first is a great homage. The second is spot on satire. Brilliant.

Man, Brendan’s piece is doing something I would not have thought possible — It’s making me want to read a Guardians of the Galaxy comic! :) Well done, sir!

I must confess that I had no one else in particular in mind for that bottom row, as I knew that they wouldn’t be especially visible and I was already running late this week. The label that is blocked by Donna just reads “Rebooted”, so you’re just seeing the “O”s and the end of the “D”. My friend Gavin on Facebook suggested that it’s Harley Quinn behind Kid Flash with the banner ‘Juggalo’, which I wish I’d been smart enough to think of. In my mind the fellow behind Wally’s shoulder is the Ray Palmer Atom, who I’m told is in the Frankenstein, Agent of S.H.A.D.E. book.

Madame Xanadu: “Druggie”

Phantom Stranger: “Traitor”

Question: “Who?”

Arsenal: “Still an Ass”

and, of course,

Catman: “Missing” (Damn you, DiDio!)

DC Of Future Past. Brilliant stuff. I love it.

Darn, they left out Street Hooker Harley Quinn!

I so want to read the second one…!

The first one of course is solid TLIID quality but LMAO at the second one.

Darn, they left out Street Hooker Harley Quinn!

“They”? It wasn’t created by committee, you know, Pigman! :)

So full of awesome.

“Attention: Reboots Beyond This Area” How funny. How appropriate.

Wow, it’s over a year later, and people are still complaining about the status quo of the New 52? I guess what they say is true: people really are resistant to change. :-\

“ow, it’s over a year later, and people are still complaining about the status quo of the New 52? I guess what they say is true: people really are resistant to change. :-\” Trumbull called me a “troll” for defending the New 52 on the Back Issue board.
