The Great Comic Book Cover Homage Streak: Week 11
It occurs to me that it seems like many comic book covers are homages. Which is fine with me. I have no problem with it. It just made me think, though, how long could I go before I hit a week where NO new comic book was released that had a cover that was an homage to something (if I get that far, I’ll discount the “skip week” Diamond Comics will be having between Christmas and New Years this year)? Let’s find out! Here is an archive of all the cover homages featured in the streak so far!
This week, we’ll go with David Mack’s beautifully haunting variant cover for Daredevil: End of Days #3, homaging Frank Miller and Klaus Janson’s classic cover for Daredevil #182.

Eleven weeks down! Will we make it to week twelve?

Too bad there wasn’t a Fred Van Lente comic you could have used.

Yeah, that would have been really neat!

I thought you might have gone for the Swamp Thing, which was the homage that leapt of the racks to my eyes. But this is nice, and I can recognise the cover it is homaging.

I definitely considered the Swamp Thing #15 cover, Eric. This cover is just so cool-looking that I figured I had to go with it.

The original is a classic. That cover always haunted me as a kid.

…what? no week 12 yet? …have you not found any homages? (or just too busy on other things)

I normally do them on Wednesday, but I had the 12 #12s bit on Wednesday this week. So it’ll probably be sometime on Sunday this week. There were a couple of homages this week, including the one I am going to use, which is the first NON comics homage used so far!
