The Line it is Drawn #125 – Rock and Roll Superheroes!
Go follow Comics Should Be Good on Twitter (if you have Twitter, that is – if you don’t, you can go sign up). Here is our Twitter page… http://twitter.com/csbg. And here are the Comics Should Be Good writers who are on Twitter (the links go to the person’s Twitter account) – myself, Greg Hatcher, Chad Nevett, Kelly Thompson, Bill Reed, Greg Burgas, Sonia Harris, Melissa K. and Ken H.
I update the blog’s Twitter account updates whenever a new post is put up on the blog, so it’s an easy way to keep up with the blog. In addition, I post new content on the blog’s Twitter account.
Now on to the bit!
So every week, I ask a question here. You reply to it on our Twitter page (just write @csbg with your reply) and our blog sketch artists will each pick one of your suggestions and I will post them here every week. So every week you will have a new question and you will see the choices picked from the previous week. Here is an archive of all the previous editions of The Line It Is Drawn!
To qualify, you have to be following us when you reply – so go follow us and then give your answer to the following question/challenge (All suggestions due by 9:00 AM Pacific on Friday).
The topic is…
In honor of Valentine’s Day, pair up any two comic book characters for our artists to depict in a romantic scene of their choice!
Read on for the sketches that came about courtesy of the last question/challenge!
Pick a comic character (or two) and have them replace a member(s) of a famous band. Spider-Man as the lead singer of the Rolling Stones, etc.
Enjoy!
I’ll put them in alphabetical order based on the name of the Twitter user who made the suggestion.

D’Alphonso gets points for taking an obvious suggestion and infusing it with a vibrant design (using a parody of the BitUSA single sleeve was a good choice and not one most people would’ve thought of).
However, Yukinori wins the week, both for the humor and the amount of work that went into the design.

great idea but poor choices. my favorites are batman/ozzy, black bolt, and machine man. the rest are artistically good, but one could expect for example led zeppelin, nirvana, etc.

Favorites have to be the Beetles as the Beatles, and Wondy filling in for Annie.

Huzzah! I thought of Etrigan the Dylan over a year ago, and I’ve just been waiting for the right time to tweet it!
And I figured the Blue Beetles was kind of obvious, so it’s funny to see others suggest it.
Good work as always everyone!

One could tweet suggestions so the artists could choose them.

For some inexplicable reason every time I hear Meat Loaf’s album Dead Ringer I get the image in my mind of Australian-outback era X-Men performing the songs. Wolverine on vocals, Havok on guitar, Longshot on bass, Colossus on drums, Storm on keyboards and Dazzler and Psylocke on backing vocals.
Yes it is quite strange in my head sometimes…

One with the Nirvana album and aquaman or Namor would be cool!
I used to write and draw a superhero book Called Elvisman… does it qualifies?

I had to laugh out loud for “Rage against the Machine Man”. It would have been perfect for the “Peter David Week”. (also, it would have been funny to have the Metal Men in the background)
Ozzie with salt and pepper ready to bite the head of a bat…man.
And finally Xum, it nice to see someone is thinking out side of the box.. er… jewel case.

All of them are great this time, but my winners this week (it’s a tie) have to be Batman and Ozzy and Spider-Man and MJ as the White Stripes. Both very cleverly done.

Steve Howard really stole the show with the joke and the bass drum cover… but I really enjoyed the humor in all of them.

I have no idea why but, in my head, Machine Man was singing the line “Just a quiet peaceful death” from the song “Down Rodeo”.

Did anybody else imagine Spider-Man and MJ singing “Well It’s True That We Love One Another”?

If I’d been in time to make a suggestion for this one, I would have gone for Led Zeppelin with vocals by Robert Plant-Man.

The White Stripes one works so well on so many levels (no longer married, Jack White’s thing for redheads [understandable, mind you], red and another color in the scheme…), it’s an amazingly good suggestion by therealastrozac, and it’s done beautifully by Steve. Nice work!
Xum’s was excellently done as well.
And in hopes of irritating Sijo to get him to come back, I won’t comment on anyone else beyond “great work!”

Peter and MJ White Stripes and “Don’t bite the Bat!” for the win! Here’s to more of Peter and Mary Jane for Valentine’s week.
