There were some pretty harrowing choices to make.

Roy Thomas was robbed.

Very pleased that NEXTWAVE is here but, as is the case with all of these competitions, two of my absolute favorite runs were overlooked:
1) WALTER SIMONSON on FANTASTIC FOUR; and
2) GREG RUCKA on CHECKMATE

I’m curious, if you had a done a 68-team field with the four play-in games, do you know what the extra four runs would have been? The only runs I can think of that strike me as conspicuously absent are the DeMatteis/Perlin Defenders run and the Millar/Kubert Ultimate X-Men run.

This is fun to do, but I can never keep the names of the regions straight and can’t remember which ones I’ve looked at already and which ones I haven’t.

I’m getting old and forgetf

While I understand it didn’t do well enough in the Top Runs lists to qualify, seeing all this 80s love makes me wish John Byrne’s Alpha Flight was in this. That would be able to bump a few of these teams out of the running.

Also interestingly absent is Moore’s Top Ten. While not exactly a superhero team, they are a group of superpowered folks in a superhero universe. But then again, we’ve got enough tough choices to make in this.

Cool to see Claremont doing so well in this (so far).

Bendis Avengers wins over Englehart Avengers? I don’t want to live on this planet anymore.

Simonson’s Power Pack was the last cut. I honestly forget the others.

Mistervimes, I’m totally with you on that observation.

Noticed that round one started with 4 fantastic fours and 4 thunderbolts
all 4 fantastics made it but the thunder was silenced
