Is it fair to blame the New 52 for the Titans losing?

It’s tough to win a fight when you’ve been retconned out of continuity. :)

No. Titans were extremely good but not as good as the beginnings of the new X-Men.

Let’s face it: the New Teen Titans were specifically gathered to imitate the All-New X-Men’s uncanny success, and even if the Claremont/Byrne run cemented that success it really began with Claremont and Cockrum’s bold new directon. Even as a kid I could tell that DC was trying to replicate what worked so well at the competition.

Between an original and its copy, of course I voted for the original (and of course I know the X-Men were originally not created by Claremont/Cockrum, but C/C’s complete overhaul of that franchise with a far more diverse cast was a VERY original team concept for its time).

Man, I understand Runaways losing to New X-Men, and New X-Men is really great, but I’m not happy about it.
