The Line it is Drawn #138 – Comic Book Characters and Game of Thrones!

line5-10-display

Go follow Comics Should Be Good on Twitter (if you have Twitter, that is – if you don’t, you can go sign up). Here is our Twitter page… http://twitter.com/csbg. And here are the Comics Should Be Good writers who are on Twitter (the links go to the person’s Twitter account) – myself, Greg Hatcher, Chad Nevett, Kelly Thompson, Bill Reed, Greg Burgas, Sonia Harris, Melissa K. and Ken H.

I update the blog’s Twitter account updates whenever a new post is put up on the blog, so it’s an easy way to keep up with the blog. In addition, I post new content on the blog’s Twitter account.

Now on to the bit!

So every week, I ask a question here. You reply to it on our Twitter page (just write @csbg with your reply) and our blog sketch artists will each pick one of your suggestions and I will post them here every week. So every week you will have a new question and you will see the choices picked from the previous week. Here is an archive of all the previous editions of The Line It Is Drawn!

To qualify, you have to be following us when you reply – so go follow us and then give your answer to the following question/challenge (All suggestions due by 3pm Pacific Friday).

The topic is…

Mash-up comic book characters with the films of the late, great Ray Harryhausen! Here is a filmography of his work to pick from.

Read on for the sketches that came about courtesy of the last question/challenge!

Team-up or mash-up comic book characters and characters from George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire books (preferably, let’s stick with the characters who have appeared on the TV adaptation already)!

Enjoy!

I’ll put them in alphabetical order based on the name of the Twitter user who made the suggestion.

Ash for the win! ..and I sorry, I gonna need that along with Kitty Pryde and Deadpool pics as posters! STAT! Great job everyone!

I have never watched Game of Thrones so I have no clue what any of the references are, but they are some pretty pictures.
Well done everyone!

Loved the Kitty one, Watchmen one but most of all the Deadpool/Tyrion one. Stupid Smarch weather.

What, those weren’t Dylan lyrics!

Another great work(s) by these talented artists…….Impressed with both the Scarlet Witch/Vision & Shadowcat/Kitty Pryde….Very humorous with Emma Frost on the “Throne” :D

Um what is that leaking on the throne where Emma is sitting?

Check out the credits at the bottom of the Tyrion/Deadpool poster–hilarious!

Ash for the win! I’ve never even seen GoT but just knowing the general setup that was a great gag and Thea drew it wonderfully.

I cannot believe I didn’t think to suggest the Kitty Pryde one. Bravo!

Deadpool is probably my second favorite, but the field is definitely strong this week. Good job everyone!

I am not terribly familiar with the show myself so most of my suggestions were from a friend. Still a fun week to see all the pieces. Though I’m needing a fix of Bill and Chaz man…

Awesome work – The Bodyguard homage made me chuckle (and wonder what it would be like if Tyrion was singing “I Will Always Love You” at the end. On second thought, scratch that idea).

HA! Squid Girl! Giving those dry-landers a taste of aquatic JUSTICE! Let the invasion begin!

(quick, someone distract her with some shrimp)

I had not watched past the first GoT episode until we had to draw for this week. Now I’m half way through season 2. I watch on HBO Go, all the seasons are there.

A special shout out to the person who suggested the topic: may your head rot on a spear, you dirty SOB. Its not as if I didn’t have enough addictions. These shows are like crack. I was already addicted to walking dead, mad men, and now this. I’m not getting any work done! How could you?

Thanks.

Gothcha Thea. GoT is so addicting.

And great job everyone. Marco, the Deadpool/Tyrion teamup was even better than I could have imagined.

Stellar work, Liners!

Marco, congrats on the show! Will you be at there on any of the days of the exhibit?

Not that I don’t love looking at all the purty pictures (and they are purty, even if this week I barely know what’s going on), but now I’m looking forward to all of the descriptions of Amanda from Brian. Yay!

As an intensely devoted Ash/Evil Dead/AOD fan, I loved that piece. Just brilliant.

As an intensely devoted X-Men fan, loved the Shadowcat/Danaerys work.

I watch Game of Thrones…as a person who does NOT really like sword and sorcery stuff at all, I was surprised that I like the show. I think it has mostly to do with the talented actors, the sets, the dialogue, storylines, the ultraviolence, and the fact that the world feels so REAL. (despite the presence of dragons, giants, people who can see things through animals, and ice zombies) Sort of a re-evaluation of what it means to live in a world like that.

Anyway, some gifted artists here. Look forward to more.

I keep looking at it, and maybe I’m reading it wrong, but are the topics backwards in the introduction? Isn’t usually the twitter request first, then the current pics?

I was actually somewhat shocked by how few of you guys had watched the show when I made this the topic. I figured it was right up the alley of you all, so it is good to know that you dug it when you started watching it!

Tyrion!

The bleakness and ultra-violence of GoT turned me off right away, so I can’t say I get the references, but “boomstick” FTW.
