The Great Comic Book Cover Homage Streak: Week 34

It occurs to me that it seems like many comic book covers are homages. Which is fine with me. I have no problem with it. It just made me think, though, how long could I go before I hit a week where NO new comic book was released that had a cover that was an homage to something? Let’s find out! Here is an archive of all the cover homages featured in the streak so far!

This week, we’ll go with David Marquez’s cover for Ultimate Comics Spider-Man #23, which is, of course, homaging Jeff Johnson and Terry Austin’s classic cover for Wonder Man #18.

Thirty-four weeks down! Will we make it to week thirty-five?

Wow, hasn’t that Wonder Man cover been homaged before during our streak? That and that ASM 300.

Without those covers, artists might have to come up with something new, dammit!

i see wat u did there

Also, DC’s Manhunter #24

I dunno, I’m pretty sure that the Wonder Man cover came first.

1April again, so soon?

Ha! I get jokes!

Why hasn’t the internet developed a sarcasm font yet?!

Why hasn’t the internet developed a sarcasm font yet?!

Because sarcasm is funnier when you don’t state that it is sarcasm. It’s even better if not everyone realises it’s sarcasm.

Mr. Cronin, please install the “sarcasm font” that Drew D. has kindly pointed us to.

Oh yeah, a sarcasm font. That’s a good idea.
