The Great Comic Book Cover Homage Streak: Week 37

It occurs to me that it seems like many comic book covers are homages. Which is fine with me. I have no problem with it. It just made me think, though, how long could I go before I hit a week where NO new comic book was released that had a cover that was an homage to something? Let’s find out! Here is an archive of all the cover homages featured in the streak so far!

This week, we’ll go with Edwin Huang and Ross A Campbell’s cover for All-New Secret Skullkickers #1, which homages Dave Cockrum and Terry Austin’s cover for X-Men #125.

Thirty-seven weeks down! Will we make it to week thirty-eight?

Is the original considered a memorable enough cover to be worth homaging? Seems an odd choice to me. Not something I’d choose to homage if I was an artist.

It certainly is faithful.

Well, the original is one of my favorite X-Men covers of all time so yeah. But nostalgia affects things a bit…
