The Great Comic Book Cover Homage Streak: Week 49

It occurs to me that it seems like many comic book covers are homages. Which is fine with me. I have no problem with it. It just made me think, though, how long could I go before I hit a week where NO new comic book was released that had a cover that was an homage to something? Let’s find out! Here is an archive of all the cover homages featured in the streak so far!

This week, we’ll go with Humberto Ramos’ cover for the fifth printing of Amazing Spider-Man #700, which is homaging John Romita Jr. and Klaus Janson’s cover for Amazing Spider-Man #600.

Forty-nine weeks down! Will we make it to week fifty?

You know, all these cover homages for Ock-as-Spidey actually make a lot of sense to me because the accentuate the weird way in which he’s been homaging his erstwhile archenemy in the comic itself.

I don’t buy new comics so I’m not all that familiar with how things work these days, but 5th printing? Wow.

Didn’t Skullkickers do yet another cover homage (Watchmen) this week as well?

What does it say in the window? I can only make out “I’m not worthy” on the right.

There were a few other homages this week. I’ve just done every other Amazing #700 homage cover, though, so I am sort of sticking with tradition, ya know?
