The Line it is Drawn #158 – Saying Adios to Breaking Bad

Welcome to our weekly gallery of amazing art by our great collection of artistic talent, all working from YOUR suggestions!

Go follow Comics Should Be Good on Twitter (if you have Twitter, that is – if you don’t, you can go sign up). Here is our Twitter page… http://twitter.com/csbg. And here are the Comics Should Be Good writers who are on Twitter (the links go to the person’s Twitter account) – myself, Greg Hatcher, Chad Nevett, Kelly Thompson, Bill Reed, Greg Burgas, Sonia Harris, Melissa K. and Ken H.

I update the blog’s Twitter account updates whenever a new post is put up on the blog, so it’s an easy way to keep up with the blog. In addition, I post new content on the blog’s Twitter account.

Now on to the bit!

So every week, I ask a question here. You reply to it on our Twitter page (just write @csbg with your reply) and our blog sketch artists will each pick one of your suggestions and I will post them here every week. So every week you will have a new question and you will see the choices picked from the previous week. Here is an archive of all the previous editions of The Line It Is Drawn!

To qualify, you have to be following us when you reply – so go follow us and then give your answer to the following question/challenge (All suggestions due by 3pm Pacific Friday).

The topic is…

In honor of the debut of its SEVENTEENTH (!) season, mash-up comic book characters with South Park characters (a theme I have no idea how we have never managed to do over the years)

Read on for the sketches that came about courtesy of the last question/challenge!

In honor of the final episode, which will be airing next week, this week mash-up comic book characters with characters from Breaking Bad!

Enjoy!

I’ll put them in alphabetical order based on the name of the Twitter user who made the suggestion.

There are some good ones, but the Braining Bad ones are so perfect that every other entry is lost in the brilliance of that little Heisenberg mouse

Braining Bad is soooooooo good!

Maybe it’s just the nostalgia kicking in, but Brendan’s Hostess ad is the best thing I’ve ever seen in TLIID. EVER.

They’re Pinkman and the Brain,
Yes Pinkman and the Brain,
One is a chemist
The other dated Jane
They’re not quite son and dad,
But together they break bad,*
They’re linked, man,
They’re Pinkman and the Brain, Brain, Brain, Brain,
Brain, Brain, Brain, Brain,
Brain,

Before the show is done
Their souls will be corroded
By the time Brain declares “I won!”
His ego has exploded

They’re Pinkman and the Brain,
Yes, Pinkman and the Brain
Their RV campaign
Is easy to explain
To save up for Brain’s death

They’ll make blue crystal meth
They’re linked, man,
They’re Pinkman and the Brain, Brain, Brain, Brain,
Brain, Brain, Brain, Brain
*Bitch!*

All good stuff – my favorites are the Braining Bad ones and the Hostess parody. Also, big props to John Trumbull for using the Venture Brothers version of Johnny Quest.

SOOOO many good ones this week. Jesse Vs. the Juggernaut, the Hostess Ad, Jeff Lemire Walt, and Meth Men are all amazing, but the Braining Bad posters win the week!

Braining Bad and the Juggernaut. Brilliant.

Love the Hostess Ad!

Omar, you made my day.

This is what you get when you’re working with Emmy material, dudes!

That said, please no Modern Family topics.

Brendan Tobin is a God.

Love the show, but as someone who works with Meth addicts on a regular basis through a social work foundation I work with, I was always amazed at how unrealistically the meth heads are portrayed in the show. Walt is by far, based on my personal experiences the most like meth-addled character on the show, behavior wise.

Man, Hostess Ads just seem to inspire this crew to greatness. I also love Paul’s Pinky & The Brain mashups and Bill’s Titans cover.

Brian, it looks like you forgot to change the number over. This is actually LIID #158.

I have not watched more than a few bits and pieces of BB but these pieces are all pretty great. I love Trumbull’s Action Johnny… excuse me, Johnny Quest piece.
And who doesn’t love a good Hostess ad? :D

The Hostess ad is pretty genius. Well done.

I don’t even watch that show and I know these are great. Pinky and the Brain and the Hostess one are the best. And these artists do better actor likenesses than most major licensed comics!

Damn these are great. If I’d known it was on, I’d have submitted my own recent BrBa mas-up; http://31.media.tumblr.com/4359f393627979d98918e50a0dff6255/tumblr_mt1q7zSsDP1ryyszuo1_1280.jpg

Oh man, these are classic. I’m a huge fan of the show, and everyone delivered.

Brendan Tobin KILLED it this week! Easily one of my favorite LIID entires ever.

yeah, i don’t think i’ll be ever able to unsee the powermeth girls.

oh and the Powermeth Girls… look out Chaz, Xum’s gunning for your job

Regarding Jesse/Pinkky, “Narf Bitch!”

The Hostess ad is the hands-down winner this week!

I actually remember seeing those ads. God, I’m old….

It’s a tribute to how good the Liners are that even though I’m only familiar with the show through reading about it, I still enjoyed all these pieces.

Damn, you guys are good!

And again, kudos to Trumbull for the Venture Bros reference. Perfect fit.

Hey, cool, Ty Templeton linked to Brendan’s Hostess parody on his Bun Toon today! I think you can click this link, click on the link to Brendan’s site, then probably link back to here, creating an eddy of a vortex of a rabbit hole of linkage.

The Twinkie ad — it just doesn’t get any better than that. I remember ones just like it from when I was a kid. I wonder how the artist managed to “age” it? Give it that yellowy look.

I’m surprised that no-one referenced the famous ‘My ward is a junkie!’ cover from Green Lantern/Green Arrow.

I’m surprised that no-one referenced the famous ‘My ward is a junkie!’ cover from Green Lantern/Green Arrow.

I’m sure that was in the mix of Twitter suggestions, but it just didn’t happen to get picked this time around. I did do an homage to that one about a year ago for LIID:

And now Brendan’s Hostess one is featured on bleeding cool.

Everybody loves Brendan this week!

“I am not IN the danger room, Moira. I AM the danger room.” Come to think of it, I think that line ended up in Whedon’s Astonishing. I would not be at all surprised if Baltazar and Franco did a page or two of “Aw Yeah Bitch Science” as a joke.

And a little unrelated, but they could make good money selling a book of Breaking Bad art prints by the artist of American Vampire called ‘Albuquerque by Albuquerque.’

Jeff Lemire has already cast White Lies with Jackie Earle Haley…..
