You Decide – Which Marvel Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. Would You Like to See Show Up on the TV Series?

Oops, I forgot to post this last week. Our latest poll is a question of what S.H.I.E.L.D. agent you’d like to see show up on the new S.H.I.E.L.D. TV series!

Read on for the choices!

I’d love to see G.W. Bridge, but only if they go over the top with him. Hire a ridiculously proportioned bodybuilder to play him, never show him without holding at least one gun bigger than he is, and never film his feet in frame.

Abrigal Brand is not an agent of SHIELD; she is the head of SWORD.

I’m gonna go out on a limb here and say that I want the David Hasselhoff Nick Fury to team up with the Sam Jackson Nick Fury.

Agents Cheesecake and Beefcake, from the Dan Slott run on She-Hulk! I was legitimately disappointed that neither of them was up there.

Are all the SHIELD agents on the show specifically created for the show? If so, why? There have been so many agents created in the comics, it makes me wonder why they would feel the need to make up all new agents for the show.

Also, does anyone else feel that Cobie Smulders is totally miscast as Maria Hill? She’s great in HIMYM, but she just doesn’t have that dry, hard edge, chew-nails-and-spit-them-out-for-kicks vibe I feel I should get from a Maria Hill. I know Joss Whedon has a big thing for her, but Morena Baccarin would have been so much better. Not only does she look like a spitting image of Maria Hill from the comics, but the way she played her character on V was just right for Hill as well.

I haven’t thought about G.W. Bridge in years, but Toozin’s comment made me curious so I googled his name to see what he has been up to since X-Force. WTF? I’m really confused? Was he turned into a fat, short Caucasian man at some point? Then killed by a zombified Microchip, the guy from the 80s Punisher books?

Is Abrigal Brand even a character?

I’m torn between Gabe Jones (because that show really needs more racial diversity) and Dum Dum Dugan (because bowler hat + big mustache).

The show would be a lot better if they replaced Agent Stiff McWooden with Clay Quartermain.

It just occurred to me: if they added agent G.W. Bridge to the show, would he get the COMPLETE Liefeld look, with the infinite pouches and weird hair? If that were the case, Bridge would get ALL my votes (meaning one, but it would an extreeeme vote).

T:”Morena Baccarin would have been so much better. Not only does she look like a spitting image of Maria Hill from the comics, but the way she played her character on V was just right for Hill as well.”

I second that. The moment I heard that Maria Hill was going to be in the AVENGERS movie, I thought that Morena Baccarin would be perfect for the role.

As soon as I saw the poll’s title, I thought that there was only one correct answer to this. I’m glad the current results seem to be agreeing with me.

(Just in case the results change {NO!}, I’m talking about Dum Dum Dugan.)

Weirdly enough, I kind of like Cobie Smulders as Hill BECAUSE she’s an odd choice. I pretty much hate Maria Hill in the comics, and Smulders’ natural charisma makes me question that.

Also, @The Mutt, I’m assuming they will develop that character as time goes on, but as it stands I agree with you. He’s the least interesting character on the show, and will be until they find something other than “I am good at my job and handsome”.

I would have loved to see Izzy Cohen or Gabe Jones, but I couldn’t pass on voting for Dum Dum – between his name, the hat, the walrus mustache and the old-time war-buddy relationship with Nick Fury, I just have to see that!

I’d like to see a white Nick Fury. One that reflects the first forty years of Marvel Comics.

Charismatic? Really? To each his own, but I didn’t find Smulders charismatic in the role at all, either in Avengers or the SHIELD pilot. She felt really really bland. Competent and capable, bot not bad enough to hate, not good enough to wow. She was just another “good looking in a bland way” person in a cast that already has way too much of that.

Not voting because the show kind of sucks.

Great poll. It was tough to choose just one. Despite the argument over the SHIELD/SWORD technicality, I have to vote for Brand. The short-lived SWORD series she starred in was outstanding, and the attitude she displayed would fit perfectly in the show’s dialogue.

Bobbi! I want to see Bobbi. She’s awesome.

Jasper Sitwell already showed up, right? He was in that one-shot short film with Lizzy Caplan.

David Hasselhoff

How about villains? They could probably use a version of the Fixer or Batroc, for example, without screwing up any plans for future movies.

With Whedon around, I keep hoping if they ever do the Wasp Morena Baccarin is going to get it. I doubt she’s leaving Homeland for Agents of SHIELD, but taking time to do the follow-up to the 3rd highest grossing film of all time? Yup.
