The Line it is Drawn #159 – South Park Comic Book Mash-Ups!

Welcome to our weekly gallery of amazing art by our great collection of artistic talent, all working from YOUR suggestions!

Go follow Comics Should Be Good on Twitter (if you have Twitter, that is – if you don’t, you can go sign up). Here is our Twitter page… http://twitter.com/csbg. And here are the Comics Should Be Good writers who are on Twitter (the links go to the person’s Twitter account) – myself, Greg Hatcher, Chad Nevett, Kelly Thompson, Bill Reed, Greg Burgas, Sonia Harris, Melissa K. and Ken H.

I update the blog’s Twitter account updates whenever a new post is put up on the blog, so it’s an easy way to keep up with the blog. In addition, I post new content on the blog’s Twitter account.

Now on to the bit!

So every week, I ask a question here. You reply to it on our Twitter page (just write @csbg with your reply) and our blog sketch artists will each pick one of your suggestions and I will post them here every week. So every week you will have a new question and you will see the choices picked from the previous week. Here is an archive of all the previous editions of The Line It Is Drawn!

To qualify, you have to be following us when you reply – so go follow us and then give your answer to the following question/challenge (All suggestions due by 3pm Pacific Friday).

The topic is…

In honor of Hostess’ return to store shelves everywhere, pick a comic book character and our artists will depict them in a Hostess ad

Read on for the sketches that came about courtesy of the last question/challenge!

In honor of the debut of its SEVENTEENTH (!) season, mash-up comic book characters with South Park characters (a theme I have no idea how we have never managed to do over the years)

I’ll put them in alphabetical order based on the name of the Twitter user who made the suggestion.

Times have changed. Our kids are getting worse. They won’t obey the parents. They just want to fart and curse! Should we blame the government?
Or blame society?
Or should we blame the images on TV?
No, blame Amanda!
Once you have finished blaming her, check out her work at her website here.

Professor Chaos and Doctor Doom team up

Sean McFarland is the artist for this one. Here is his website.

Great week, everybody! Especially impressive considering various circumstances left us short quite a few artists this week and yet it still turned out awesome!

Okay, readers, go tweet us suggestions!

OMFG — Tobin, you rule.

Cheese is rice, Mr. Tobin…you just won the internet.

Oh my gawd, these are all funny, but that animated Alpha Flight one just made me pee a little.

The TMNT ones are based on the “Goodbye, My Brothers” series, by Joao Pires. The originals are here: http://deadpea.deviantart.com/

The Brendan Tobin streak continues!

And oh, Lord — We’re doing another Hostess Ad the SAME WEEK as the New York Comic Con?

Well, that’s it, then. Brian Cronin is trying to kill me. ;)

I am reasonably sure that Robin Williams performing “Blame Canada” on the Oscar telecast ended the tradition of all nominated songs being performed live. (Besides, “Up Against the Wall, Unclef***er” was a better song, and it wasn’t even nominated.)

BUT, Amanda is responsible for neither that hockey hullabaloo nor that b**** Anne Murray. That’s just wrong, Cronin.

Hoping that some of the missing artists are just behind, and can be added later?

Is that a Giant-Size Man-Bear-Pig? (Scuzzlebutt just didn’t work as well for the gag, but I feel sad we missed the chance to see Patrick Duffy again.)

Thea did a classic Mitch Shelley/Jean Grey mash-up — and Nick’s riff on the topic is just as good. Nice to see Cthulhu without the Coon hanging around.

Paul’s take on the Turtles is spot-on the source and the boys — well done.

There is only one proper response to Brendan “Man on FIRE” Tobin’s piece: “WhatWhatWHAAAAAT?”

Deadman was my favorite character when I was younger — the therapist had a field day with that one — and pairing him with Kenny is obvious, but Thea nails it. The only better riff would have been the “Which one of you is my killer?” cover, but that would have been WAY too intensive on a short week, right?

Interesting take by Sean – but you know Doom and Chaos will eventually turn on each other… it’s a standard clause in the Villain Team-Up contract.

Tried the new Twinkies — they are just NOT the same — you may notice a certain theme running through my suggestions…

Too much awesome on this page.

Tobin’s is much funnier if you’re a fan of the show and its play on Canadians.

Is there any chance we can get a much bigger resolution of that image? I realllllly want to make it my desktop picture at work. :-D

Drat..I half expected the big reveal…Kenny is in fact Deadpool and that’s why he never stays dead.

Brian . . . did you ever get my e-mail with SP characters cast in the emotion spectrum?

Yeah, it was very cool, Jason. I figured I’d share it with folks over the weekend.

Kenny Sparks, Stan Hawksmoor, Dr. Kyle and The Fatnighter are…
The Authoritah!

Let me make this situation clear for you assholes. I know you’re gonna try to kick me in the nuts. I know when you’re going to kick me in the nuts. I’ve already kicked you in the nuts a thousand times in my head, and before you can kick me in the nuts I will kick you SQUARE IN THE NUTS! That’s Rochambeau. Your move.

I misread the title to the animated piece and thought they were going to fart O Canada.

Man, there are some wonderfully drawn entries this week but Tobins’ piece was ‘ruin the keyboard if you’re drinking something’ funny.

Somewhere there was a missed Rochambeau-Captain Marvel/Photon/Pulsar/Spectrum joke in there.
