The Great Comic Book Cover Homage Streak: Week 58

It occurs to me that it seems like many comic book covers are homages. Which is fine with me. I have no problem with it. It just made me think, though, how long could I go before I hit a week where NO new comic book was released that had a cover that was an homage to something? Let’s find out! Here is an archive of all the cover homages featured in the streak so far!

Oops, I never got around to doing this last week. My apologies!

For this week (the 10/30 Comic Book Week), we’ll go with Jeff Shultz’s cover for Archie #649, which is homaging Edward Hopper’s crossover painting of Kyle Richmond from the Squadron Supreme and Kyle Richmond of the Defenders.

Since this is coming out at the same time as week 59, there is little suspense as to whether the streak will continue to week 59!

Have we gotten a “(Marvel) Nighthawks at the Diner” from one of our Liners? We should have.

It’s “Hopper”, though, innit?

so is that last week’s? or this week’s and we’re getting two of this week’s comics?

I know I should recognize that painting, but… which is it?

Oh, never mind. Google IS my friend after all.

Hopper, not Hooper.

Well done, Brian.

so is that last week’s?

Yeah, this is last week’s edition.

Hopper, not Hooper.

Oops, thanks! Fixed it.

Throw in the Kyle Richmond from Supreme Power and the Ultimate version, and I’m surprised nobody’s actually painted that foursome…
