The Great Comic Book Cover Homage Streak: Week 64

It occurs to me that it seems like many comic book covers are homages. Which is fine with me. I have no problem with it. It just made me think, though, how long could I go before I hit a week where NO new comic book was released that had a cover that was an homage to something? Let’s find out! Here is an archive of all the cover homages featured in the streak so far!

This week we’ll go with Sebastian Cichon’s cover for Pathfinder #12, which is homaging the film poster for John Carpenter’s classic (using the term “classic” very loosely) sci-fi film They Live, starring acting legend Roddy Piper (using the terms “acting” and “legend” very loosely)

Sixty-four weeks down! Will we make it to week sixty-five?

Pathfinder is out of bubblegum?

You didn’t just dis They Live, did you, Cronin? Because them’s fightin’ words!!!!!

I called it a classic!

They Live is great – and Rowdy Roddy Piper is the best wrestler of his generation (well my favourite anyway) – and what is pro wrestling if it’s not acting?

“Hey Roddy! do a suplex”

Carpenter’s direction on They Live!

Roddy Piper is far from the greatest wrestler of his generation, after all his generation also includes Ric Flair.

All right, sir. I’m watching those quotation marks, though …

They Live is one of the most re-watchable movies of the 80s. It’s easily a classic, sans quotes.

John Carpenter is a genius.

Rick Flair was dull.
