The Line it is Drawn #169 – Doctor Who 50th Anniversary Celebration!

Welcome to our weekly gallery of amazing art by our great collection of artistic talent, all working from YOUR suggestions!

Go follow Comics Should Be Good on Twitter (if you have Twitter, that is – if you don’t, you can go sign up). Here is our Twitter page… http://twitter.com/csbg. And here are the Comics Should Be Good writers who are on Twitter (the links go to the person’s Twitter account) – myself, Greg Hatcher, Chad Nevett, Kelly Thompson, Bill Reed, Greg Burgas, Sonia Harris, Melissa K. and Ken H.

I update the blog’s Twitter account updates whenever a new post is put up on the blog, so it’s an easy way to keep up with the blog. In addition, I post new content on the blog’s Twitter account.

Now on to the bit!

So every week, I ask a question here. You reply to it on our Twitter page (just write @csbg with your reply) and our blog sketch artists will each pick one of your suggestions and I will post them here every week. So every week you will have a new question and you will see the choices picked from the previous week. Here is an archive of all the previous editions of The Line It Is Drawn!

To qualify, you have to be following us when you reply – so go follow us and then give your answer to the following question/challenge (All suggestions due by 3pm Pacific Friday).

The topic is…

It’s the Line it is Drawn’s annual Holiday Special! So suggest comic book characters for drawings inspired by Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, what have you!

Read on for the sketches that came about courtesy of the last question/challenge!

Our own Nick Perks felt bad that we missed out on the fiftieth anniversary of Doctor Who. But it is not too late! So this week’s theme is to team-up or mash-up comic book characters with Doctor Who characters!

Enjoy!

I’ll put them in alphabetical order based on the name of the Twitter user who made the suggestion.

Marco is insanely brilliant with that last panel.

And Caanan’s Grall’s piece is a wonderful surprise!

Nice work everyone!

The Underdog one was my favorite

To quote the Ninth, “Fantastic!”

Micky looking at Martha in the companions piece, brilliant detail!

And why isn’t Marco the artist on the actual Deadpool comic? Every time he draws ‘Pool it’s pure magic.

All brilliant pieces but Xum’s Underdog was nothing short of amazeballs! And he nailed the old Charleton logo beautifully.

The Underdog one inspires in me the partially-unrelated desire for a Doctor Who/ Sherman and Peabody crossover.

*SNIFF* As a Whovian, I must say bravo to you all….and this reminds me that in 12 days it all changes again….

Sean, I often wondered with all the Cybermen’s superiority, why they’d go with handlebars on their head? X-51 shows why that’s a liability….

Xum, can we pitch this as an animated movie to BBC and Cartoon Network?

Chaz, I love the weirded out Kang, and the visual of the intersecting rays (representing timelines?) is a nice touch…

Nick, now you got me hoping for this mash-up during DC’s next Crisis in a few years….

C & A, beautiful as always and I love the strategically placed “Trolled” sign…

I have to agree with Toozin, Marco you were born to draw Deadpool man….

Axel, first time I ever seen that emotion out of an angel… Hellboy’s got a gift…

Nick, damn…just damn…. now I wish that Kirby did an old strip/issue of “DW”. That’s about as close as we’ll ever get to that….

OK Paul… I see Indiana Jones but who’s the one in black? And no Dr. Detroit? For shame…. (Youngsters, look up Dr. Detroit..lol)

Bill, Now I wish you drew issue 12 of Doctor Who Prisoners of Time… I’d buy a Companions Spotlight book a la Teen Titans Spotlight if it was drawn like that each month….

Cherry on Top Canaan….a piece that would be truly Impossible Fun if it was ever filmed…. Maybe that’s the way we get Fantastic Four on screen, IM steals Clara and the Tardis while they drop in on Reed Richards.. Hilarity Ensues… Yeah.. too over the top… but I had to try…

12 Days…. Thank You Artists One and All!

I love that Deadpool one.

love the mars one with WOTW and John Carter in.

and Deadpool too.

I believe the “seventh doctor” is Doctor Robert Langdon from “The Da Vinci Code”, correct?

I don’t know anything about Dr. Who (I know, I know, bad nerd…) but I still enjoyed the hell out of this week. I love Xum’s usual style, but WOW is that Underdog piece dead-on! Somebody needs to give him a cartoon-style series post-haste.

Disney’s “John Carter” movie failed because they did not use the above design for Dejah Thoris.

Nice to see Caanan Grall is back. I’m a big fan. Will it be reoccuring, or just a one off? (I imagine he’s super busy with Max Overacts)

JoeMac, it’s certainly not regular, but I’m gonna try popping in here and there when I can.

Why doesn’t Wolverine always wear a bow tie?

Yay Caanan!

The guy in black is Dr. Langdon, from the Da Vinci Code. You can tell because he’s holding the codex.
Actually, I think he might be a professor.
Still, he should have a PhD somewhere around there.

Had I the space, Dr. Horrible, Dr. Frankenstein, Dr. Finklestein, Dr. Bones, Dr. Psycho, Dr. Girlfriend, Dr. House, Dr. Watson, Dr. Dre, Dr. Demento, Dr.Jekyll, Doc the dwarf, Doc Samson, Doc Savage, Doc Hammer, and Doc Brown would have also made an appearance. Imagine them in the background.

…or as I prefer to call them, The Illuminati!

It’s a TV pitch I’m working on in my spare time.

I think Xum is the big winner this week. Pitch perfect Jay Ward-style fourth Doctor.

Fantastic work everyone! :-D

If The Doctor were a silver-age Jack Kirby character, his real name would be “Thaddok-Turr”.

Thanks Anonymously and Paul….I didn’t catch that in his hand… good detail…..

“I have adamantium claws now. Adamantium claws are cool.”

Beautiful work, all!
