The Great Comic Book Cover Homage Streak: Week 68

It occurs to me that it seems like many comic book covers are homages. Which is fine with me. I have no problem with it. It just made me think, though, how long could I go before I hit a week where NO new comic book was released that had a cover that was an homage to something? Let’s find out! Here is an archive of all the cover homages featured in the streak so far!

This week we’ll go with Jon Katz’s cover for Batman/Superman #7, which is homaging Frank Miller’s cover of Batman: The Dark Knight #4

Sixty-eight weeks down! Will we make it to week sixty-nine?

Love it!

In fact I’m going to try to strip out the text and see if I can get a good iPhone wallpaper.

(Which means I actually have a reason to use my Photo Eraser app!)

Damn – The app can’t do the sky at all well. Has anyone got a copy without the text?

That should be Dark Knight Returns #4 right?

That should be Dark Knight Returns #4 right?

At the time, the book was officially titled just Batman: The Dark Knight. Each issue had its own subtitle. #1 was The Dark Knight Returns. #2 was The Dark Knight Triumphant. #3 was Hunt The Dark Knight. #4 was The Dark Knight Falls. When the books were collected, the collection was called The Dark Knight Returns so the name has stuck since but I like to go with the original name, just for the fun of it.
