The Great Comic Book Detectives – Teddy Bears Fighting World War I?

Here’s the bit. You, the readers, send in descriptions of comics that you remember vague details from the past and either I, or one of the readers of the piece will use detective work to figure out what comic you’re talking about!

Reader Isaiah Pierce just wrote in to ask:

Looking for the name of a comic book featuring an author who passes out and gets transported to the trenches of world war one but instead of people, the soldiers are his childhood toys, namely led by a teddy bear he used to own. Please help.

Read on to see the answer!

The book is Kingdom of the Wicked by Ian Edgington and D’Israeli.

Weird cover, right?

I reviewed the book years ago at the old blog. Here‘s a link.

If anyone else out there has a comic book from the past that you want help tracking down, drop me a line at bcronin@comicbookresources.com

Well, that was a bit anticlimatic. I didn’t quite expect the answer BOOM like that.

Wow, the old blog looks WEIRD!!!

D’Israeli’s got a new book from Titan in the latest Previews. Ordinary, I think? Great artist.

Travis: Did you never read the old blog? It was keen. Like the Wild West, I tells ya! Now we’re so much more buttoned-down.

I only got into CSBG once you joined the CBR family. I’d been loosely following CBR since about 2000, when Scott McCloud had a Zot adventure appear there. Then you guys came here, some weirdo had a contest with naming what book a panel or page was from, and now I’m here all the time. Lucky you guys!

Travis: I couldn’t quite remember. I thought you didn’t show up until we moved here, but I wasn’t positive. That contest guy does sound like a weirdo, but we’re glad you’re here! :)
