The Great Comic Book Cover Homage Streak: Week 74

It occurs to me that it seems like many comic book covers are homages. Which is fine with me. I have no problem with it. It just made me think, though, how long could I go before I hit a week where NO new comic book was released that had a cover that was an homage to something? Let’s find out! Here is an archive of all the cover homages featured in the streak so far!

This week we’ll go with Frank Cho’s cover for Nova #13, which is, of course, homaging Arthur Suydam’s cover for Deadpool: Merc with a Mouth #9.

Seventy-four weeks down! Will we make it to week seventy-five?

…………..AAAAAANNNNNNND the poster for “The Graduate” (1967).

You’d think an Acer wouldn’t miss the joke that quickly….

Please. That’s clearly an homage to Incredible Hercules #134…

That was my first pick, actually, but Incredible Hercules does the same joke (someone covering the eyes of a younger person) so it seemed so similar that someone might think I was seriously comparing the two (since they shared the same gag).

I totally did not even notice Nova was there until I read Brian’s comment, and I looked at the cover several times. I just thought Beta Ray Bill was doing a creepy Mr. Burns “ehhxcellent” thing with his hands.

Bill’s cape looks like an afterthought.

At least Brian can not say I gave the joke away this week.
