The Line it is Drawn #180 – Internet Memes, Comic Book Style!

Welcome to our weekly gallery of amazing art by our great collection of artistic talent, all working from YOUR suggestions!

Go follow Comics Should Be Good on Twitter (if you have Twitter, that is – if you don’t, you can go sign up). Here is our Twitter page… http://twitter.com/csbg. And here are the Comics Should Be Good writers who are on Twitter (the links go to the person’s Twitter account) – myself, Greg Hatcher, Chad Nevett, Kelly Thompson, Bill Reed, Greg Burgas, Sonia Harris, Melissa K. and Ken H.

I update the blog’s Twitter account updates whenever a new post is put up on the blog, so it’s an easy way to keep up with the blog. In addition, I post new content on the blog’s Twitter account.

Now on to the bit!

So every week, I ask a question here. You reply to it on our Twitter page (just write @csbg with your reply) and our blog sketch artists will each pick one of your suggestions and I will post them here every week. So every week you will have a new question and you will see the choices picked from the previous week. Here is an archive of all the previous editions of The Line It Is Drawn!

To qualify, you have to be following us when you reply – so go follow us and then give your answer to the following question/challenge (All suggestions due by 3pm Pacific Friday).

The topic is…

It’s that time of the year again, people! It’s March MODOK Madness! So go make suggestions for famous (non-comic book) celebrities as MODOKs!

Read on for the sketches that came about courtesy of the last question/challenge!

Our own David Branstetter has this ambitious topic idea – comic book characters mashed-up with popular internet memes! Kitty Pryde in “Gerseberms / Mah fravrit berks,” Monet St. Croix is not impressed, stuff like that

Enjoy!

I’ll put them in alphabetical order based on the name of the Twitter user who made the suggestion.

NOTE: Before we begin, let me state that I understand, you might not know all the memes referenced in this piece. Let us take that as a given. You don’t need to point out your ignorance of the memes referenced. It’s cool. We get it.

For MODOK week, does it /have/ to be real celebs or can we suggest comic characters too?

Real celebs this time around. Gotta mix up March MODOK Madness!

I spent fifteen minutes last Friday trying to think of a comic character that would perfectly fit for Zovrrly Attached Girlfriend. How the hell did Harley flippin’ Quinn never cross my mind?

Great work to all the artists.

Awesome job!

Wow. I had the same idea as Marco and Paul?? maybe I *am* cool after all….

Wow, I feel old.

I have absolutely no idea what half of these memes are / mean…

One does not simply make a Joker meme he mades it AWESOME (no, really, i think that Paul Hostetler’s work won the internet today)

Lots of goodness and greatness but I most love David B nailing that slapping meme, with social commentary to boot. Also got to mention ‘I can haz murdrz’ which I now want to add to every picture of our cats.

i don’t think i know what some of these meme’s are.

i just wanted everyone to know that.

Thanks for reading!

Yeah, feel old too. I’m only 37, and the Internet has passed me by.

Age is relative. I’m 38 and I saw all those Memes. The overly attached Harley Quinns were the best ones. Creepy!

My favorite is the Joker “Simply” one cuz of his little finger gesture.

Love ‘One does not simply kill the Batman’, ‘I don’t always have a plan….’, and Black Widow/Miley Cyrus. They are the best!

The Overly Attached Harleys are the most horrifying things I’ve ever seen.

Bravo.

If there’s ever a second round of these, a mash up of Magneto and the ICP “Magnets, how do they work?” meme would be awesome.

Great work everyone! :-D

The Robin one could easily become a meme in its own right.

Remember that time in Megas XLR where Bruce Campbell played Magnanimus, the Bruce Campbell Elvis MODOK robot fight announcer?

I know I’m late, I just wanted to take a moment to thank Rachel for acknowledging the raw proof of a just and loving God that is #NakedCatman.

It is simply impossible to draw Thomas Blake naked without making his awesome wonder a joy to behold. Even Ragdoll has to ride the rainbow in appreciation. I have long wheedled and cajoled the aforementioned Danny to cosplay Thomas — in as little clothing as the laws of Virginia permit — with me. I will simply carry a bucket at waist height to catch the drool.

I know, I know, it was some other meme — but Ms. Ordway’s innate sense of cosmic balance led her to embrace the grandeur. And I am VERY grateful.

I quite enjoyed trollface Bizarro. Something about that idea seems so perfect.

Superman: Bizarro! Are you trying to kidnap Lois AGAIN?
Bizarro: … u mad bro?
