The Line it is Drawn #184 – Comic Book Tribute to GWAR

line4-4-display

Welcome to our weekly gallery of amazing art by our great collection of artistic talent, all working from YOUR suggestions!

Go follow Comics Should Be Good on Twitter (if you have Twitter, that is – if you don’t, you can go sign up). Here is our Twitter page… http://twitter.com/csbg. And here are the Comics Should Be Good writers who are on Twitter (the links go to the person’s Twitter account) – myself, Greg Hatcher, Chad Nevett, Kelly Thompson, Bill Reed, Greg Burgas, Sonia Harris, Melissa K. and Ken H.

I update the blog’s Twitter account updates whenever a new post is put up on the blog, so it’s an easy way to keep up with the blog. In addition, I post new content on the blog’s Twitter account.

Now on to the bit!

So every week, I ask a question here. You reply to it on our Twitter page (just write @csbg with your reply) and our blog sketch artists will each pick one of your suggestions and I will post them here every week. So every week you will have a new question and you will see the choices picked from the previous week. Here is an archive of all the previous editions of The Line It Is Drawn!

To qualify, you have to be following us when you reply – so go follow us and then give your answer to the following question/challenge (All suggestions due by 3pm Pacific Friday).

The topic is…

To celebrate their recent film, team-up or mash-up Muppets with comic book characters!

Read on for the sketches that came about courtesy of the last question/challenge!

As suggested by CBR’s own Stephen Gerding, in honor of the passing of Dave Brockie, design a Gwar costume (or costumes) based on a comic book character or group of comic book characters. Like what would a Gwar costume based on Spider-Man look like?

Enjoy!

I’ll put them in alphabetical order based on the name of the Twitter user who made the suggestion.

The second Ninja Turtles looks like Spawn to me,,,

Thanks, bob, I fixed that one!

Here I am, browsing CSBG, and out of nowhere..
GWARRRRRGGH!
Now I’ve seen everything.
It’s funny because the bad itself published various comic books by themselves
It’s sad to hear that Brockie died. First, Corey Smoot, now Brockie.
It’s always a weird feeling when you hear about the death of one of your heroes.

I guess that next time there will be a tribute to Death Metal? :3
Let me mention that the almighty Berni Wrightson did a cover art for Obituary’s album.
And a former Massacre vocalist self-published comic book horror anthology “death shriek”.
Cannibal Corpse have a floppy and graphic novel based on their music.

Anyway, huge surprise, It’s the last thing I could expect to see here.

Oh, man fantastic work everyone! :-)

I’ve commented before how most of the time when the artists take one of my suggestions they hit it out of the park and this time is no exception. Derek you somehow combined the sweet & cute Harvey style & disgusting blood and guts to make me lough out loud while thinking “Eeeeeeeew!” Good job!

In Paul’s My Little Gwar, the first two characters actually remind me of a Gwar version of Robin and Batman (the latter complete with bat wings!).

What’s GWAR?

I don’t know why I care, but I totally suggested Lobo and TMNT also.

My Little Pony was just….wrong in so many ways but I can’t stop looking.

And very happy to see Cranius in the Swamp Thing one.

That MyLittle Pony was exactly as twisted as I’d hoped and Sean’s X-men are brutal! Great work all around.

GWAR Wars is the best! Hilarious!

The X-Men piece is fantastic. Great character design.

I’m not overly familiar with GWAR, but for over the top, great artwork, these take the cake.
