The Line it is Drawn #185 – Muppet Mash-Ups!

Welcome to our weekly gallery of amazing art by our great collection of artistic talent, all working from YOUR suggestions!

Go follow Comics Should Be Good on Twitter (if you have Twitter, that is – if you don’t, you can go sign up). Here is our Twitter page… http://twitter.com/csbg. And here are the Comics Should Be Good writers who are on Twitter (the links go to the person’s Twitter account) – myself, Greg Hatcher, Chad Nevett, Kelly Thompson, Bill Reed, Greg Burgas, Sonia Harris, Melissa K. and Ken H.

I update the blog’s Twitter account updates whenever a new post is put up on the blog, so it’s an easy way to keep up with the blog. In addition, I post new content on the blog’s Twitter account.

Now on to the bit!

So every week, I ask a question here. You reply to it on our Twitter page (just write @csbg with your reply) and our blog sketch artists will each pick one of your suggestions and I will post them here every week. So every week you will have a new question and you will see the choices picked from the previous week. Here is an archive of all the previous editions of The Line It Is Drawn!

To qualify, you have to be following us when you reply – so go follow us and then give your answer to the following question/challenge (All suggestions due by 3pm Pacific Friday).

The topic is…

In tribute to the passing of the Ultimate Warrior, team-up a comic book character with a famous professional wrestler. It doesn’t have to be the Warrior himself, but I’d imagine that it would be nice if he could appear a few times next week at the very least.

Read on for the sketches that came about courtesy of the last question/challenge!

To celebrate their recent film, team-up or mash-up Muppets with comic book characters!

I’ll put them in alphabetical order based on the name of the Twitter user who made the suggestion.

Kermit as The Spirit

Cynthia “Thea” Sousa drew this one. Her website is here. It’s not that easy coloring green. Having to spend each day coloring the color of the leaves. Amanda Rodgers thinks it could be nicer coloring red, or yellow or gold or something much more colorful like that. To see her color plenty of things other than green, check out her website here.

A sensational week, everyone!

Okay, folks, go tweet us suggestions for next week!

Holy crap, this is easily my favorite TLIID ever. Great job, everyone!

Nick, thanks so much for drawing my Statler & Waldorf suggestion! It looks more amazing than I could have imagined.

Absolutely love the Golden Age Flash and Green Lantern one!

Also, why am Bizarro so sad?

And The Kermit’s mouth interior. Yes.

Sweet Mama Lucien!
This week’s entries were nothing short of brilliant! So made my Friday here at work.

And the return of Brave & The Bold Aquaman. I’d have posted my train of thought as one post, but there’s no edit feature.

Reign Of The Super Grovers made me laugh out loud. Probably because I had a Reign Of The Superman poster hanging up in my room in the 90s.

Love the Super Grovers, always a favourite character and seemingly overlooked now.

Nice to see a guest spot from Caanan, now go draw some Max Overacts ;)

Wow. Awesome work this week, Liners, one and all. Rachel, you got a chuckle out of me! I love Lew Zealand!

Sweet. Excellent stuff, everyone.

Reign of the Super-Grovers, Statler and Waldorf, Hawkeye-Rowlf, and the Endless each deserve to have had a day when they could be the greatest thing that has ever happened.

But they can’t have it, because they coexist with Cookie Galactus, which is by far the greatest thing that has *ever* ever happened.

I have a T-shirt from woot.com that has Cookie Monster in a Galactus outfit eating cookie planets. Very similar.

SOOOO good this week. But if I had to choose a favourite (which is hard) is the brilliant simplicity of Cookie Monster Vs. Hulk. I just love the layout of it.
I also love Forgetful Jones (nice design and I love the texture on the nose) and Sherlock Hemlock (cool visual and great reference to the manga adaptation of the series).

Oh, and Aquaman. That was great.

Best TLIID ever.

Best week ever, people! Good to see you back for a week, Caanan!

Man, I thought Cookie Monster/Galactus was tops, until I saw the Statler and Waldorf bit. Those are brilliant!

Thanks, Mike. I’m always here, just as a spectator.

But, Muppet week… I couldn’t resist.

The Reign of the Super Grovers is flawless.

Just to be fair, the original suggestion was Muppets in Days of Future Past… but yes, now that I think about it, the giant Animal-Wolverine works, too.

Spectacular job, one & all!

I normally hate when people nitpick as I am about to do, but regarding Axel’s homage, IIRC, the original cover to UXM #142 was done solely by Terry Austin, not Byrne.

Closest thing I have to the theme in my collection is this Muppets/Doctor Who mashup.

The Cookie Monster/ Galactus one is the most hilarious. On the flip side, the Cookie Monster versus Hulk one is the most disturbing picture. Something about it seems really weird and creepy seeing them fight over cookies.

Point taken, @ookerdookers. Sorry for the overlook.

This was indeed one of the absolute best weeks ever! So many great5 pieces! i especially love the Hawkeye one and the Golden Agers! Outstanding!

A truly clever week – well done to all.

Loved Cookie Monster as Galactus!

I nearly woke up my wife giggling at the Aquaman/Lew Zealand bit. Those darn boomerang fish.

This edition literally killed me. I am now typing from the otherside.

Wow! That last one by Nick Perks is AWESOME! Great mash-ups!

Fantastic job everyone! :-)

I thought nothing could top Aquaman.

Then there was Jonah Hex.

*Then* there was Labyrinth.

But gosh darn it if the Golden Agers didn’t beat them all.
