The Great Comic Book Cover Homage Streak: Week 83

It occurs to me that it seems like many comic book covers are homages. Which is fine with me. I have no problem with it. It just made me think, though, how long could I go before I hit a week where NO new comic book was released that had a cover that was an homage to something? Let’s find out! Here is an archive of all the cover homages featured in the streak so far!

This week, we’ll go with Jay Shaw’s cover for Evil Empire #2, which is homaging James Montgomery Flagg’s famous World War I recruitment poster.

In an interesting twist of fate, of sorts, Flagg’s poster was ITSELF an homage to this British World War I recruitment poster from a few years earlier by Alfred Leete.

Eighty-three weeks down! Will we make it to week eighty-four?

No, no, Brian! Clearly Mr. Shaw is homaging this webcomic page http://www.theduckwebcomics.com/The_KAMics/4860646/

How could I have been so foolish, Keith!? I am so embarrassed!

You are both wrong.

The Evil Empire is clearly not a homage of the web comic. The squirrel on the cover of the web comic is at a slight angel, where the creature on this cover is not.
