You Decide – Which Arrow Character Are You Most Worried About Being Killed in the Season Finale?

With the Arrow season finale coming up and Deathstroke’s promise to kill one more person hanging in the air, which character are you most worried about dying in the season finale?

Read on for the choices!

I am assuming that neither Diggle, nor Felicity, are going anywhere. They are two-thirds of the core of the show. On the other hand, the cannon which may not be violated has the fairly dull Laurel Lance tabbed as the Black Canary, which is a role that her fifty times as interesting sister currently occupies.

Plus, Caity Lotz seems a little bit too awesome to be the fourth or fifth lead on a CW show long-term. She dropped into MAD MEN and provoked a threesome for God’s Sake!

I keep seeing this on the blog and I can’t help myself. I teach writing and it just grates on me horribly every time.

A cannon with two Ns is a big piece of ordnance you fire at people from the deck of a ship or something like that.

Canon, with one N, is the word you use when referring to ‘established lore’ or some similar topic.

Sorry, Dean, not picking on you in particular or anything. I just can’t let it go one more time. Nerd reflex. I admit it.

…that’s all, carry on.

I will add that I think it probably will be Sara but it SHOULD be Laurel. Slade is more likely to target Sara just because he insists that Oliver sacrificed Shado for her. But Laurel is just not terribly interesting and I can’t believe that she would credibly be able to take on the Canary identity after Sara’s death. Sara as the Canary is a lot more fun. But I have an ugly hunch that putting the pieces in place for Laurel to be the new Canary is where this is all leading.

My only take there, Greg, is that I think that they’ve laid it on SO thick that it will be Sara who will die that they won’t actually do it. When you have made it plainly obvious that you’re going to zig, shouldn’t you then zag instead?

Other thoughts on that point…

1. I think that there’s a decent chance that Sara “dies” in the flashback in the finale. So I think it would be a bit odd to kill her in both the flashbacks and the present day sequences.
2. With Nyssa and the League of Assassins seemingly showing up to help out in the finale (based just on the preview of the finale at the end of last week’s episode), I think that could be a way to write Sara out (and yes, open the door for Laurel to become Canary) – have her leave with Nyssa and the League in exchange for their help in stopping Slade.

One thought on another take on the idea…

If they DO kill her, could we see a Lazarus Pit scenario? That’s likely how Malcolm returned, I would imagine.

Are you asking who we think will be likely the next death to happen this season or who will Slade be targeting as a way to hurt Ollie? It’s two very distinct questions, so I want to make sure I know before I vote. I think Slade will likely TARGET Laurel but than Sara is the one who will ACTUALLY die, presumably to save her sister and provide Laurel the necessary motivation to become the new Black Canary.

@ Greg Hatcher:

You never have to apologize to me for grammar nerdery. I stand corrected.

Are you asking who we think will be likely the next death to happen this season or who will Slade be targeting as a way to hurt Ollie?

Neither.

We’re asking which Arrow character that are you most worried about being killed off in the season finale. We actually have another poll coming up about the first question!

If the question were which character I’d least like to see killed – or which character I’d be most worried about being killed IF I thought no one was safe – I’d probably vote for Felicity, but I voted Sara because of the characters I actually think they’d kill she’s the one I’d miss most.

Like T., I think Sara will take a bullet (metaphorically – it’ll probably be an arrow or a sword) for Laurel, and I’ll go as far as to speculate that out of guilt Laurel will go off with Nyssa to train to take up Sarah’s mantle, possibly after a multi-year break between seasons (allowing the illegitimate kid we found out Ollie had a few episodes ago to turn up as a teenage Connor Hawke in a season or two!).

What I hope they’ll do is have Slade Target Sara (which it seems to me is the only person it makes sense for him to be going after unless the “someone” who needs to “die” was a metaphor for wrecking Starling City) and Laurel take the bullet for her sister, give some dying speech about how it doesn’t matter what bad things Sara’s done, she has the potential to do so much more good to earn her second chance and blah blah blah dead Laurel. Then Caity Lotz either gets promoted to the main cast next season or gets her own Black Canary spinoff.

Honestly, if Sara dies I’m out. After killing Shado and now Moira I’ve not been enjoying this season (the writing has just gone downhill) I’m not sure I’m going to stick around of next season. Killing Sara would put the nail in that coffin.

There’s no way in hell that Felicity, Dig, or Roy are going to bite it. Thea, Walter, Sin, or Quentin the most likely to die. The rest are pretty much 50/50.

I’m surprised that Isabel Rochev isn’t on the list. I hoping she dies so Summer Glau doesn’t jinx this show and get it cancelled like she did with Firefly, The 4400, Alphas, Sarah Connor…

It is a poll about which character you are most worried about being killed in the season finale. I don’t think anyone is worried about her dying, ya know?

Right, that is the actual question – which character you are worried about dying. I agree that Felicity is not someone you should really worry about losing.

I voted Felicity not because I think there’s a chance in hell of her dying, but just because I realized looking at the list there’s not a single other person on it that I would care if they died. I mean, are there really people who actually care of the current 9, 10, and 11 spot characters die? Almost seems like a gag vote there.

Not on the list but I would have put Slade up there, because he’s too cool a bad guy to kill off, and in the past Shado. Because the stories with her in the present day could have had a nice comics bent on them. But how many people can die and survive from those islands before it’s completely a joke?
