The Line it is Drawn #191 – X-Men Mashups!

Welcome to our weekly gallery of amazing art by our great collection of artistic talent, all working from YOUR suggestions!

Go follow Comics Should Be Good on Twitter (if you have Twitter, that is – if you don’t, you can go sign up). Here is our Twitter page… http://twitter.com/csbg. And here are the Comics Should Be Good writers who are on Twitter (the links go to the person’s Twitter account) – myself, Greg Hatcher, Chad Nevett, Kelly Thompson, Bill Reed, Greg Burgas, Sonia Harris, Melissa K. and Ken H.

I update the blog’s Twitter account updates whenever a new post is put up on the blog, so it’s an easy way to keep up with the blog. In addition, I post new content on the blog’s Twitter account.

Now on to the bit!

So every week, I ask a question here. You reply to it on our Twitter page (just write @csbg with your reply) and our blog sketch artists will each pick one of your suggestions and I will post them here every week. So every week you will have a new question and you will see the choices picked from the previous week. Here is an archive of all the previous editions of The Line It Is Drawn!

To qualify, you have to be following us when you reply – so go follow us and then give your answer to the following question/challenge (All suggestions due by 3pm Pacific Friday).

The topic is…

As a tribute to the late HR Giger, designer of the Alien in the Alien film series, have a comic character face off against (or along side) a famous movie or TV alien. Avengers vs. Aliens, Batman and ET team-up, stuff like that.

Read on for the sketches that came about courtesy of the last question/challenge!

In honor of the new X-Men film, depict various fictional groups as the X-Men. So the Justice League as the X-Men, the cast of Cheers as the X-Men, the cast of Little Women as the X-Men, the cast of My Little Pony as the X-Men, etc.

Enjoy!

I’ll put them in alphabetical order based on the name of the Twitter user who made the suggestion (I made an exception this week so that one artist wouldn’t be going back to back).

My favorite is Branstetter’s Comic Book Guy.

By far.

Well They’re no POWER PACYDERMS But I’ll Take them.

I’m not sure that turning Batman into Wolverine makes you better off.

The Breakfast Club image doesn’t show.

Welcome Tsubasa. Your X-Pets are just adorable!

Don’t know what the mice are from but they look awesome.
Also dig the big bang theory, is it me or is the thong a little small.
Best wolverine is the harry potter friend one.

shame Mathieu didn’t see fit to include Picard and just drew Xavier….

[/smartarse]

Wait, did anyone ever come up with that Batman’s arms= Wolverine’s claws thing before? Because that’s kind of brilliant.

Okay, “my uncanny X-Veggies” takes the price, I can’t stop laughing at that! Awesome colours in that one too.

Nu-D, I may be wrong, but the Breakfast Club image IS the peanuts image — they’re doing dance moves from the montage in BC. Right?

Right. I thought maybe he just couldn’t see the picture period.

Cynthia, you’re the best at what you do. And what you do… is draw.

I think it’s appropriate:

Welcome to the Line, Tsubasa. Hope you survive the experience!

Nice piece, too.

I also highly dig Xum’s SuperFriends piece and Nick’s Zippy tribute. Great stuff (not that anyone else was a slouch, mind you!)

Who would have anticipated when clicking here that they’d see an onion and a cauliflower as X-men? So weird, so brilliant. Is that fennel as Jubilee?

Breakfast Club/Peanuts and Harry Potter are the winners this time. :-)

This is one of the most technically-sound weeks yet, top to bottom these are all excellent pieces.
The veggiepiece is a beautiful and colorful inspired piece of art, tops.

On the trek X-Men, who is that as Iceman? Wesley? Barclay?

I kinda figure that’s the one of the Yars (mother or daughter) as Phoenix.

To me it looked like Data was Iceman and Beverly Crusher was Phoenix… but again, that’s my perception.

X-tremely good job everyone! :-D

Anyone else hearing the song Lucy & Linus rather than whatever song played in the Breakfast Club during that scene?

Basara – It looks like Crusher as Phoenix to me to. Yar had short hair. Although Yar as Phoenix would have been appropriate.

I really want to read the Super Friends….

Super Friends version is the best. Also like the Big Bang Theory and the two Simpsons versions.

Onion Wolverine is the best there is at what he does and what he does is make you cry.
