The Line it is Drawn #192 – Comic Characters Meet Famous Movie and TV Aliens

Welcome to our weekly gallery of amazing art by our great collection of artistic talent, all working from YOUR suggestions!

Go follow Comics Should Be Good on Twitter (if you have Twitter, that is – if you don’t, you can go sign up). Here is our Twitter page… http://twitter.com/csbg. And here are the Comics Should Be Good writers who are on Twitter (the links go to the person’s Twitter account) – myself, Greg Hatcher, Chad Nevett, Kelly Thompson, Bill Reed, Greg Burgas, Sonia Harris, Melissa K. and Ken H.

I update the blog’s Twitter account updates whenever a new post is put up on the blog, so it’s an easy way to keep up with the blog. In addition, I post new content on the blog’s Twitter account.

Now on to the bit!

So every week, I ask a question here. You reply to it on our Twitter page (just write @csbg with your reply) and our blog sketch artists will each pick one of your suggestions and I will post them here every week. So every week you will have a new question and you will see the choices picked from the previous week. Here is an archive of all the previous editions of The Line It Is Drawn!

To qualify, you have to be following us when you reply – so go follow us and then give your answer to the following question/challenge (All suggestions due by 3pm Pacific Friday).

The topic is…

Suggested by Steve Gerding – In honor of the passing of the creator of the G.I. Joe action figure, Donald Levine, team-up and/or mash-up comic characters with G.I. Joe characters.

Read on for the sketches that came about courtesy of the last question/challenge!

As a tribute to the late HR Giger, designer of the Alien in the Alien film series, have a comic character face off against (or along side) a famous movie or TV alien. Avengers vs. Aliens, Batman and ET team-up, stuff like that.

I’ll put them in alphabetical order based on the name of the Twitter user who made the suggestion (I made an exception this week so that one artist wouldn’t be going back to back).

Great work, everyone!

And a welcome again to Unca Woofie!

Okay, people, go tweet us suggestions for next week!

Ironman and Mother Brain is switched with Flex Mentalo and Allen the Alien. Great stuff!

Let the wookie win.

Good stuff – though I can’t help but wish Chewie and Beast were playing holochess – half the pieces could be Marvel monsters like Fin Fang Foom or Brood! But maybe they’re playing some holo version of ‘normal chess’ and Chewie’s rook is about to sprout arms and break all of Hank’s pieces. :)

Think those last two images got swapped.

Also, why hasn’t there been a Wolverine vs. Predator comic?

Why not indeed? There has been a short fan film… http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NY3T45Kn5sg

And welcome aboard Unca Woofie!

Unca Woofie opens up with a home run there. Love the top left character panel.

Also, JU totally nailed Allen the Alien’s speech patterns.

Batman ’66 vs Mars Attacks…we need that as an actual comic book by Jeff Parker and Nick Perks… NOW!

Think you left out the artist on that great Wolverine vs. Predator image, Brian.

So glad I suggested it (though not alone, clearly.)

Sigh….this makes me want a Godzilla week even more….

Holy crap, why has no one thought of that before? A Godzilla-sized xenomorph! My mind is blown.

Thanks, Nick! Sorry, Nelson! I fixed it.

Hey…I don’t have Twitter but might I suggest…The Avenging Hussy vs The Westboro Baptist Idiots!!!! Unca Woofie knows… :D

I really LIKED the Batman ’66/Topps Martians mash-up, as a matter of fact ALL the entries had something to offer that even someone as ingrained in this kinda pop culture as I am at my age, hadn’t thought of with these topics.

Superman and Bowie…too cool!
Chewbacca and Beast playing chess…If Chewie tried to tear Hank’s arms off, he’d get a fast lesson in why Hank’s called ‘Beast’! :-D
Ripley and Ripley makes me think of Ripley and the little girl from the Alien sequel.

That is a lot of nice mashups.
