3 Chicks Review Comics – Episode #067

It’s EPISODE #067!!!3 Chicks Logo 2 - Blue

Inside this episode!

So, first up we have a review of Kieron Gillen and Jamie McKelvie’s The Wicked + The Divine #2. Up next is a review of the first Black Widow trade (collecting issues #1 – 6) by Nathan Edmonson and Phil Noto. Following that we have a super long interview with the fantastic (and prolific) Ed Brubaker talking about all things Fatale, Velvet, his incredible 5 year deal with Image, and his new book with Sean Phillips debuting in August – The Fade Out. We of course manage to talk a little bit about that tiny little film you may have heard about Captain America: Winter Soldier and some Batman things like how fantastic Gotham Central was and how we miss it. For comics news we talk about the huge Thor announcement and The Girl Who Would Be King film option…will Kelly’s superheroines be the first ladies to be the leads in a superhero film??? That would be epic. Because you guys were very good this week, we’ve also got a couple dramatic readings by Sue.

3 Chicks Review Comics is a podcast featuring female comics lovers and bloggers. Sue from DC Women Kicking Ass and Kelly Thompson from She Has No Head! Tune in to CSBG every other Monday at noon as we review comics and discuss hot topics of the week. In addition to the blogs above, you can also follow us all on twitter as well: Kelly and Sue.  Special thanks to Caanan Grall for our incredible 3 Chicks Logo and to Nik Furious for our awesome 3 Chicks theme song.3 Chicks Covers Ep 67

What a fantastic interview. I’m a huge fan of old Hollywood and, even though my drug of choice is mainly 1930’s pre-code and/or post Depression era movies rather than 1940’s/post war stuff, you three made me so excited about The Fade Out! Ed is an amazing writer. I’m so sad Fatale is ending.

Congrats about the movie deal Kelly! Well deserved.

I’m so glad this podcast is back!

Hey just a heads up, the Podbean link still goes to #066, the previous episode. ;) It’s no trouble finding the new one of course, but just saying. By the way I would like to voice my dissatisfaction with the previous episode. While it was good, it still featured way too few jokes about Mr. Grayson’s first name. Deeply dissapointed!

Ciro – Yeah, this is one of my favorite interviews we’ve done – so much great fascinating stuff to talk about!

Thanks for the congrats too. :)

TotalSnorefest – thanks, corrected!

It’s true, we did NOT make enough dick jokes last time. We will endeavor to do better.

dick..jokes? what have i been missing?

simoN – last week we reviewed Grayson, starring Dick Grayson. We made too few dick jokes, we are endeavoring to correct that mistake in future episodes. :)

I’d really like to read your reviews of these books, but I don’t listen to podcasts. I feel like I’m missing something, but the format doesn’t do it for me.

@Nu-D. – I hear you. As much as I enjoy podcasting I have almost no time to listen to podcasts since I don’t have a commute and every spare minute is spent writing and it’s hard to write and listen to/understand something.

I can’t always help you (and not with Sue’s side of things), but I DID review The Wicked + The Divine #2 for CBR, and I have reviewed a couple issues of the new Black Widow (3 and 6).

Great show. The interview with Ed Brubaker is hands down my favorite so far. He was a lot of fun. I’m loving Fatale and Velvet, I can’t wait for his new Image projects.

The dramatic readings on the last couple of shows have been worth the wait. I’m so glad you guys are back. And yeah Sue is coming to NYCC! I will definitely try to say hello.

Congrats on all your suceess Kelly!

great episode!! i don’t think i’ve ever read a Brubaker comic but he was really fun and interesting to listen to. i have my fingers sooooooooooo crossed for Bonnie and Lola to be first out of the gate!!
