The Great Comic Book Cover Homage Streak: Week 98

It occurs to me that it seems like many comic book covers are homages. Which is fine with me. I have no problem with it. It just made me think, though, how long could I go before I hit a week where NO new comic book was released that had a cover that was an homage to something? Let’s find out! Here is an archive of all the cover homages featured in the streak so far!

This week, we’ll go with Loston Wallace’s cover for Mars Attack: First Born #3, which is homaging Wally Wood’s cover for Weird Science #17.

Ninety-eight weeks down! Will we make it to week ninety-nine?

Loston Wallace has been one of my best friends since out Kubert School days, and he’s one of the most talented artists I know!

Loston’s website can be found here: http://www.lostonwallace.com/

His Deviant art page is here: http://lostonwallace.deviantart.com/

And BTW, ALL of Loston’s covers for this mini were Wally Wood homages. :)

Yep! The first two issues just happened to come in weeks where I went with a different homage.

Makes sense, since Wood both inspired the original card sets, and developed the rough sketches (with Bob Powell finishing and Norman Saunders painting them).
