The Line it is Drawn #231 – Muppet Mash-Up Week!

Welcome to our weekly gallery of amazing art by our great collection of artistic talent, all working from YOUR suggestions!

Go follow Comics Should Be Good on Twitter (if you have Twitter, that is – if you don’t, you can go sign up). Here is our Twitter page… http://twitter.com/csbg. And here are the Comics Should Be Good writers who are on Twitter (the links go to the person’s Twitter account) – myself, Greg Hatcher, Chad Nevett, Kelly Thompson, Bill Reed, Greg Burgas and Sonia Harris

I update the blog’s Twitter account updates whenever a new post is put up on the blog, so it’s an easy way to keep up with the blog. In addition, I post new content on the blog’s Twitter account.

Now on to the bit!

So every week, I ask a question here. You reply to it on our Twitter page (just write @csbg with your reply) and our artists will each pick one of your suggestions and I will post their drawings based on your suggestions here every week. So every week you will have a new question and you will see the choices picked from the previous week. Here is an archive of all the previous editions of The Line It Is Drawn!

To qualify, you have to be following us when you reply – so go follow us and then give your answer to the following question/challenge (All suggestions due by 3pm Pacific Friday).

The topic is…

It’s that time of the year again, people! It’s March MODOK Madness! So go make suggestions for comic characters as MODOKs

SOOO many good ones this time around. Marco D’Alfonso’s Fozzie as the Joker is a solid pick and does look creepy.
Gene Guilmette’s page was almost my pick of the week, though, simply because of my Statler and Waldorf bias, Did quite make it, but it is pretty amazing and a perfect combo.

Monica Munster does a fantastic piece for one of my favorite characters (I kind of had a crush on her, but I tended to have crushes on any fictional character who smothers people with love as a kid). Excellent use of pink.

Seeing a Cutie Honey/Piggy combo was cool and I really like Rob Peters FF piece.

Xum did a wonderfully clever take on my suggestion that also allowed a cameo by Caroll Spinney. Very cool page composition (reminds me very much of his Sherlock Hemlock as Sherlock piece). Again there’s a bias (my suggestion) but I think it might be my pick of the week (and I just like how the hole in Big Bird looked).

So much great stuff this week. Everyone gets a pat on the back.

Where’s Black Canary & Big Bird?

Xum has some pretty good casting ideas for that Green Lantern finale in his Big Bird piece…

OUTSTANDING!

So many great submissions this week, truly loved them all.

I don’t know if it’s because I’m a Muppet fan, or because the artists are obviously Muppet fans, but these topics always seem to result in fantastic pieces.

I neglected to say it before, but yes, this is a really good week. The Muppets do seem to bring out the best in the artists.

For another 13 piece series of Muppets Mashed up with Horror, please see my facebook page or website. Many of them have gone viral being picked up by Weird Tales as well as Hellraiser Official. I travel doing Comic and Horror Cons and these guys are now all over the country.

It’s an actual bathtub. In a week of exceptional entries, that detail made me laugh the most.

Muppet Coulson!

If there were a t-shirt of Fozzie Joker, I’d buy it.

Why was the Rocket Raccoon and Dancin’ Baby Groot even featured, you wouldn’t know it was suppossedly related to the muppets babies without being told, otherwise it looks like just another piece of fan art by people who are still amused about the idea of a talking racoon and tree.

There’s actually an Indiana Jones/Kermit mashup action figure that came out a few years ago: http://muppet.wikia.com/wiki/Adventure_Kermit_Action_Figure

These are all wonderful, but I think Fozzie as the Joker has to be tied with the Lucy Punisher (was that last week?) for the scariest The Line it is Drawn entry ever. (Now I want to see Punisher Lucy fight Fozzie Joker.)

Just to add: Is it just me, or is Fozzie’s “Wocka wocka wocka”, in this context, actually more disturbing than the Joker’s “Ha ha ha”?

@November –

If you knew anything about the Muppet Babies, you would’ve recognized that immediately.

“Armageddon Outta Here!”

I love how Nick is breaking the 4th wall both literally and metaphorically.

Love Honeydew and Beaker as Strucker and the Red Skull; it really fits.

Jeff, that was my favorite. Though the whole week was outstanding.

@David Branstetter – Yeah, those walls are more flimsy than they look…

Great week!

Nothing to add beyond that except, for any newcomers, check out The Muppets in Thor, a full comic made as an entry in a previous Muppets TLIID by Caanan Grall, a former weekly contributor.

Love the Muppet Babies Rocket and Groot :D
MUPPET COULSON LIVES!!!

Muppetational work, everyone! :-)

It feels natural that the Muppets, Marvel and Lucasfilm have the same corporate parent. It is utterly bizarre that parent is Disney.

Can we have a Terry Pratchett one?

I love the religitables reference. Made my day.

When I saw the picture of Fozzie at the top of the page, I was thinking it was supposed to be for Fozzie as Alex (from “A Clockwork Orange”). Even after seeing he was the Joker from “The Killing Joke,” I still think the image works as Alex.

The Kermit as Indy made me laugh out loud, catching the crash reference.

I liked the detail on the Black Canary/Big Bird one, though now I will have to again sublimate the nerd rage at losing the GL animated series.

Best…the line it is drawn….ever….

Beaker as Red Skull is the funniest thing I’ve seen all week!

I love the Bane/Sweetums mash up. I would totally buy an ‘I broke the frog’ t-shirt.
