The Line it is Drawn #281 – Comic Book Weddings!

Welcome to our weekly gallery of amazing art by our great collection of artistic talent, all working from YOUR suggestions!

Go follow Comics Should Be Good on Twitter (if you have Twitter, that is – if you don’t, you can go sign up). Here is our Twitter page… http://twitter.com/csbg. And here are the Comics Should Be Good writers who are on Twitter (the links go to the person’s Twitter account) – myself, Greg Hatcher, Chad Nevett, Kelly Thompson, Bill Reed, Greg Burgas and Sonia Harris

I update the blog’s Twitter account updates whenever a new post is put up on the blog, so it’s an easy way to keep up with the blog. In addition, I post new content on the blog’s Twitter account.

Now on to the bit!

So every week, I ask a question here. You reply to it on our Twitter page (just write @csbg with your reply) and our artists will each pick one of your suggestions and I will post their drawings based on your suggestions here every week. So every week you will have a new question and you will see the choices picked from the previous week. Here is an archive of all the previous editions of The Line It Is Drawn!

To qualify, you have to be following us when you reply – so go follow us and then give your answer to the following question/challenge (All suggestions due by 3pm Pacific Friday).

The topic for the next Line is…

With Punisher and Elektra debuting next Friday on Daredevil, come up with comic characters that you’d like to see fight Elektra and/or Punisher or team-up with Elektra and/or Punisher

Read on for the drawings that came about courtesy of the last question/challenge!

Pick two comic book characters and our artists will draw their wedding. Our artists will decide if they want to draw a happy wedding or a Graduate style interrupted wedding or a “supervillain interruption” wedding

Enjoy!

I’ll put them in alphabetical order based on the name of the Twitter user who made the suggestion.

Probably the first cover guest-starring Xum’s girl-friend/wife?

Kind of in love with the the whole cover treatment for ‘Looming Deadlines’. Phenomenal job, to that one and the rest!

Loving the reproduction of the old Dell cover style in Dan’s piece.

And I think Xum’s wife is with Xum…I’m not sure who the pale redhead is…Poison Ivy?

And doesn’t Batman usually wear blue?

Loved Dan’s Dell cover.
Conan’s made me chuckle
The Civil Union was had so much potential but was wasted with what was basically a tracing of the movie poster.

And I think Xum’s wife is with Xum…I’m not sure who the pale redhead is…Poison Ivy?

That’s the woman who is impersonating Batwoman.

Just as a preemptive measure, I’m aware in my rush-mode haze that I misspelled Violet as Violette. Lets just pretend that it’s alternate universe concept art of a potential Pixar Disney crossover universe movie where they do get married, and that alternate universe concept artist (me? but not me…) messed up the spelling.

Yes, the “extra bride” is “Katherine Kane”, the alter-ego of Batwoman, in an homage to the cover of The Flash v1 #165; originally presented in The Line It Is Drawn week 247.

And yes, the woman with the Professor is supposed to be my wife, Namiko. I never did claim to be really good at likenesses…

I got the Flash cover reference, but in that one Zoom looks like Barry. I maybe haven’t read enough Batwoman…does she wear a wig in costume like TV show Batgirl? Because the hair and skin were so different I couldn’t tell they were supposed to be “the same person.”

Yep, she wears a wig.

…the hair and skin were so different I couldn’t tell they were supposed to be “the same person.”

That is either a sign of how good Batwoman’s costume disguises her identity, or how bad Xum Yukinori renders the same character twice…

I think Namiko has appeared before.

Yes, she has. In some instances I have depicted her better than in others.

And there was also that one week when she had pencilled 80% of a “Professor Xum” cover…

Love these so much! Totoro looks a bit baffled though :D

Big Mike- I think you mean, “Totoro looks absolutely terrified.”

These are all excellent.

I wish Totoro was smiling like he did that time all those rain drops fell on him. Smiling Totoro is the best Totoro.

Fantastic work everybody! :-)

Just the line “Looming Deadlines Classics” with a mock DC logo cracked me up. Great ideas!

C’mon, the civil union one or clever, it spotlights the inherent homoerotic feelings of the original poster. I liked it.
