The Biggest Superhero Films That Didn't Happen, Part 2
Comic Books, Film
I’ll be doing some live blogging at our pal Alex’s store, Rocketship, on Saturday for Free Comic Book Day.
Matt Loux and Fred Van Lente are going to be there.
Be sure to check it out, and if you’re in the area, stop by!
TAKE TWO!!! It was originally February 22nd, before inclement weather canceled it, and now it is tonight!
Check out the launch party for Fantagraphics’ new HOTWIRE II anthology, featuring (among others): Jonathon Rosen, Glenn Head, Sam Henderson, Danny Hellman, Mark Newgarden, David Sandlin, Chadwick Whitehead, Craig Yoe, R. Sikoryak, Doug Allen and Marc Dean Vega.
Check out Rocketship for more info (like how to get there).
The last cool release party at Rocketship was canceled due to inclement weather. Luckily, there is ANOTHER cool release party TOMORROW!
Again, I’ll be there – so that’s cool in and of itself, no?
Phil Yeh, who did NBM Publishing’s geography-teaching graphic novel Dinosaurs Across America, has announced his fall 2007 schedule of his 25-year world tour that uses humor and cartoons to promote literacy and the arts. It sounds really neat.
Click on “read the rest” to see the tour dates!
Dinosaurs Across America is a total comic book classic. Great stuff. Continue Reading »
Rocketship is having another cool event tonight, celebrating the release of Douglas Wolk’s new book, Reading Comics…
Eight PM tonight at Rocketship.
ROCKETSHIP is located in Brooklyn. Walk down Smith Street until you are between Baltic and Butler. Or take the (F) or (G) to “Bergen Street”.
Be sure to be at the Rocketship this Friday for the MoCCA Pre-Opening party!
It is also a Paul Hornschemeir art show, which is cool, as Paul Hornschemeir is awesome!
I’ll be there! So should you!
On Free Comic Book Day, the man, the myth, the legend, Fred Van Lente, will be signing books at Rocketship in Brooklyn. Check out more info here. I know I’ll find a way to be there! How ’bout you?
So, I am going to my very first comic convention (I have always avoided them in the past) this Saturday and Sunday with the Small Press and Alternative Comics Expo in Columbus, Ohio.
Who else is going to be there? We should meet up!
And for those folks who aren’t attending, fear not, as I imagine I’ll have a number of indy books to review after the convention is over, to give you an idea of what you missed!
Be there or be square!
Okay, technically, you could actually be there and still, in fact, remain square, but let’s just forget about that for the moment.
You New York area folks best go to this and have fun, as I cannot (family obligations)!
Includes music by Balthrop, Alabama.
You know I’ll be there!
In his most recent Joe Fridays column, Joe Quesada announced a neat event coming to New York City this coming Friday:
November 10th, four bands, each containing at least one member of the Marvel staff will be performing at Blaggard’s Pub at 8 West 38th street between 5th and 6th Avenues, a mere block away from the House of Ideas.
My band Idlechatter will be opening the festivities at 8Pm so come on down it’s going to be a blast and you’re almost certain to run into your favorite Marvel Editor and maybe even a creator or three. Editor Nick Lowe will be the master of ceremony which should be fun as he isn’t very funny at all and has terrible stage fright and if I have my way, I’m going to find a manner by which to get Tom Brevoort on mic to sing a little ditty.
Sounds pretty neat!
Comics Should Be Good accepts review copies. Anything sent to us will (for better or for worse) end up reviewed on the blog. See where to send the review copies.
