What I bought – 26 October 2011

I understood it this evening: the author has to die in order for the reader to become aware of his truth. (Umberto Eco, from Foucault’s Pendulum)

Hank couldn't shrink down for the damned class picture? That's a cheery pumpkin! The black bar cracks me up What's this?Could it be? Hey! It's Jesus! Holy crap, really? Wilson Fisk, NO!!! Look how cheery he is! KA-BOOM! Oh, Jock, you make everything better! Shang-Chi likes to practice on clay models It's a tender moment with firearms! How'd they all fit inside its eye sockets? Yes, I know

What I bought – 9 March 2011

She told him about God, who resembled her strongly, an amiable, loving and sad person given to losing things, and dropping things. He it was, struggling to hold aloft so much, that fumbled and let fall their mother from out his tender embrace. (John Banville, from Doctor Copernicus)

This cover is a LOT more exciting than the interior! I hate to say this, but this is a terrible cover, although Gleason's signature is placed nicely Why are robots always grumpy? J. H. Williams III can pretty much do no wrong! Gosh, I wonder Not a hoax! Not an imaginary issue! Not a hoax! Not an imaginary issue! This issue would be a lot better if Lee Moyer painted it! That cover is totally creeping me out, man! Yay! She gets a name! Man, that cover is awesome! Mullet alert! That's just good advice for any situation Gene Ha phones in another cover I like how they both have shit-eating grins It's a good thing she's not naked, brother!

What I bought – 30 June 2010

The difference between men and sheep seems to be that men, unlike sheep, need not be led to the slaughter but are carried there on the wings of their own enthusiasm. (William Gerhardie, from God’s Fifth Column)

Thank Vishnu he's not wearing that thing in this issue! Will I piss off Brian Clevinger yet again?!?!?!? Who knew Martians flew around in actual flying saucers? Only three months late? Heck, that's not bad at all! All comics should end with as awesome a last page as this! Mark Buckingham had to leave his own title to do a cover or two! Hot diggity, I love that cover! Mars seems awfully crowded in this issue, doesn't it? Totally worth the wait! Yet another fantastic cover! Man, the main character does some prodigous projectile vomiting in this issue!

What I bought – 24 February 2010

One need only admit that public tranquility is in danger and any action finds a justification. (Leo Tolstoy, from War and Peace)

Punch his smug face - oh, Zombie Batman, you card! It's a pictographic adventure-o-rama! I'd like to have a name that appeared in a movie title, but no one's making 'One Night at Burgas's,' unfortunately It's raining men, damn it! Oh, Boris - your cross won't help you now! But ... if they're up there, whose skeletons are those? STILL hating the cover design! Oh, Dave Johnson - you're so groovy! It's so blue and shit! Gotta make sure the breasts are there! I've forgotten to put the collections I've been buying up here, but there haven't been too many; this week, however, we get more Batman awesomeness from DC! More Garcia-Lopez than you deserve! God, I love this book. I wish it came out more than once a year, though. Apparently, this is quite awesome. It better be! Are you happy, Pedro? Are you?!?!?!?!?
