Oxford comma in the title of this post: Yay or nay? I love Oxford commas, myself, but I enjoy hearing opinions about grammatical minutiae!

What I bought – 23 January 2013

And now let us believe in the long year that is given to us, new, untouched, full of things that have never been. (Rainier Maria Rilke)

World's worst amusement park ride? Misdirection! Jackal in a space suit! That's a lot of rounds, yo Damn Made you look! You don't use 'shambling' with regard to actual people too much, but that's what Dex looks like she's doing Benday dots! Could this be the first toy from this comic? Ultra-mod! I wouldn't trust that chicken Conan ANGRY! It's about time! That's still pretty ridiculous

What I bought – 27 June 2012

“The question is can you cure the disease before it kills you? Once you set out consciously to cure the disease, as I did even before I knew the word cancer, you run the risk of catching it. Comprende? Whatever you set your mind to, your personal total obsession, this is what kills you. Poetry kills you if you’re a poet, and so on. People choose their death whether they know it or not.” (Don DeLillo, from Libra)

Rejoice! Two in the same week? Are you kidding me? No, I don't know why the other heroes are on this cover She doesn't need to get dressed to kick ass! FDR doesn't tell good jokes! Well, holy shit Still not the greatest recoloring In Technocolor! Pirate Conan! Wow, the Dodsons managed three whole consecutive issues! Behold my two penis substitutes! I have no idea what the fuck is going on with this comic anymore This will be good, right? Eddie Campbell is weird It's all olde-tyme! Keep lookin' ...

What I bought – May and June 2011

Hey, look at that! I’m back in Arizona and I picked up almost two months’ worth of comics! Yeah, I’m not going to review them properly here – that would take waaaaaaaay too long. This is more of a “What I bought and the random thoughts I have about the issues and, why not, what I did in Pennsylvania for seven-and-a-half weeks.” Can you handle that??????

What I bought – 13 October 2010

Our nation has grown by its need for the unnecessary — another name for human progress. (Daniel Boorstin, from Cleopatra’s Nose)

Ryan Sook makes everything better! Estrogina and the Zamoran pirates need to get an ongoing title NOW! Naked chicks and giant robots! Did they honestly think it could be an ongoing? Naked chicks and giant Vikings! I couldn't resist! CBR reviews get quoted on the front of Marvel books, but God forbid they quote me! Yet another cool cover! It's all true! That dude needs to chillax! I hope there's bloodshed and ugly-bumpin' in this book! Yay! More dinosaurs! Dang, this looks awesome! It's all European and shit! So much funny!

What I bought – 16 June 2010

Let us not be deluded by forms of government. The word may be republic in France, constitutional monarchy in Prussia, absolute monarchy in Austria, but the thing is the same. Wherever there is a vast standing army, the government is the government of the sword. (Benjamin D’Israeli, 1852)

Ms. Kelly Thompson didn't like this cover, but I kind of dig it! Yes, it's girl-on-girl action - you gotta problem with that? Ruas' covers just creep me out, man! It's the semi-annual issue! Hot damn, Bisley's covers kick ass! Dynamite manages to get a Green Hornet crossover into this book, which is quite a trick! Calling central casting! Nothing's tougher than a cat smoking a cigarette! Spooktacular! I wonder if there is any lamentation of the women in this comic? A work of staggering genius? I think so! Chicks with swords sell like hotcakes! It's all optical illusiony!

What I bought – 3 June 2010

“To break up the superstition and worship of legality should be our aim. Nothing would please me more than to see Inspector Heat and his likes take to shooting us down in broad daylight with the approval of the public. Half our battle would be won then; the disintegration of the old morality would have set in in its very temple.” (Joseph Conrad, from The Secret Agent)

Splode! Wait, so that hand is ...? This is just an interior panel, but what a cool cover! David Petersen is so cool ...... he's come up with a backstory for what's happening on this cover! If you put me behind some leaves so that the shadows fell dramatically across my face, I still wouldn't look as cool as this dude! Galatia manages to pull that outfit off! Can J. Scott Campbell do anything except kewl poses? I buy my Conan in man-sized chunks! Fact: Peter Snejbjerg is really good It's the Immonens! It has to be good, right? Well, I'll finally get around to reading this!
