Flippin’ through Previews – December 2011

Are you looking to do a little Christmas shopping? Well, too bad – Previews #279 is NOT for you! (Because it, you know, has books for February and beyond, so it’s too late for Christmas shopping, so it’s funny that it’s the “December” issue, right, and … oh, let’s just move on.)

Flippin’ through Previews – April 2011

It’s getting on to summertime, which means … more and more comics! That’s always odd to me – it’s not like movies, where the kids are out of school. If you buy comics, you buy them all year, right? Anyway, Previews has what you’re looking for!

What I bought – 24 November 2010

“I write in blood, and the best truth is a bloody truth.” (Irvin D. Yalom, from When Nietzsche Wept)

Batman needs some gum work done! Not surprisingly, it's a stunning cover! How is she standing up? If that dude is so invincible, why does he need a vest? Not surprisingly, it's a stunning cover! You mean it doesn't end well for the humans? What a shock! Sheriff Badd-Asss sure loves his penis substitute! Another great Cheung cover! I can't believe that's not Fin Fang Foom For an anniversary issue ...... this is a pretty cool cover There's just never enough killing in this series! The French love them some prostitutes!

What I bought – 22 September 2010

“Girls are like slugs – they probably serve some purpose, but it’s hard to imagine what.” (Calvin, of Calvin and Hobbes fame)

Marko mad!!!!! Is this cover supposed to be 3-D? Two consecutive issues of Dracula chained up - they need to mix it up! It's Soldier Ant! Onward to glorious Communist future, comrades! He's kicked ass, he's taken names, he's gotten laid ... it's been a good day! It's all Orson Wellesy! Yay, espionage! Oh no - this looks Goth-y! It's about bleepin' time!

A review a day: Graylight

This book came out two months ago, but I waited until I had some other stuff to review so I could do a few days of “reviews a day.” I don’t mind waiting a while with standalone long-form novels, though, because it’s not like the Next Big Event will be spoiled if you don’t read this right away! And there’s some minor nudity below. You can handle it!

A review a day: No Pasarán!

I probably should have put an inverted exclamation point in front of that title, as it’s in Spanish, but it’s not on the cover of the book, so I won’t!

Oh, here’s another review. Click “Continue Reading” to learn the shocking tale of how I acquired this!

A review a day: The Big Kahn

A few days ago, I reviewed a book about a woman whose father has lied to her his entire life. That must be a theme in graphic novels this year, because here’s another book about a lying father!
